Is Glasner the problem?

Me thinks defeats in our next three games will sadly, see the end of Glasner, after all the successes and optimism of the end of last season. We are in a results driven business and a further three defeats will be totally unacceptable as we prop up the bottom of the table and change will be inevitable.
Hope I am wrong and we kick start our season with an away win against Forest.

I think three draws would pull a curtain on our Austrian leader.

All fair points. Add to that Kamada (who I believe in long term by the way) is finding it more difficult than expected to find his form in this division, Riad and Chalobah getting injured early on meaning we cant yet find a settled back line, Nketiah being signed so close to deadline we are probably only from now onwards going to start seeing the best of him.
And then theres JPM. His form is ok but no more than that. We had a focal point at the back end of last season when he was on fire. Maybe its time to put Nketiah there.
On JP could the issue be as much supply? Back to the point on the front line weakened by the departure of Olise.

Nottm Forest have not won any of their 4 games at home in League and cup.
Away from home they have won at Liverpool and drawn at Brighton and Chelsea (Their last game), accordingly they will provide a stiff test on Monday and I very much suspect they will win the game.

There's always us when another team needs to break a run.

Maybe there needs to be a more realistic assessment of our players and team.

Many of us perhaps got carried away by the heady excitement of the results and performances at the end of last season which led to a belief that a top 8 position could be achievable this season.

Of that team I would contend that Olise, Guehi, Anderson and possibly Eze and Wharton are capable of playing in a top 8 teams.
In that aforementioned period players like Hughes and Clyne excelled, but in reality outperformed their normal levels so they were never likely to maintain their excellent form.

Of that team we’ve lost Olise and Anderson ( two of the top 8 players).
Some would argue that Nketiah is a top 8 player having come from Arsenal, but in reality he’s hit his mid twenties and was only ever a bit part player there. He’s got it all to prove.
Others could claim that Henderson, as an England international , is a top 8 player.
However, when he was available top clubs were hardly clamouring to get him.
We were virtually unchallenged signing him.
He’s a good shot stopper, but there are question marks over his command of the area and his distribution.
Doucoure looked like a potential top 8 player in his first season, but that could not be said of him currently with his fitness issues.

In conclusion I would say that we are a long way short of a top 8 team.
We’re currently underperforming, but I would say we look like a team that is likely to finish in the bottom half of the table and Glasner needs to be assessed more in line with the tools currently at his disposal as opposed to considering the team that outperformed at the end of last season.

Its ultimately points on the board that count.

However, with a little more luck, and a little better finishing we could have picked up a couple of wins, and be sitting in 11/12th. Thinking that it wasn't a great start, but decent considering all the player changes.
Statistically Parish and Glasner will take some comfort that statistically we are doing ok. Just need to start being a bit more ruthless.

im beginning to wonder if people really watch games , last season all complained about boring football , then we play great football and still complain , we have some new players god sake let them find there feet , i have seen enough to believe we are very close to clicking when it does , we will be walking over teams , people seem to think teams click straight away , many of clubs that do then have a bad patch and cant buy a win , we have to many good players and stop listing to so called experts in the media they hate palace , so please stop bashing the team at the start of a season , only 10 teams have let in less than us , we have only played 7 games

I wonder as well, does Dougie watch and think we're fine at wing back and wide areas?

I agree.

Problem being that football is a game of fine margins, short memories and even shorter patience.

So again, agree all round and genuinely believe sticking with Glasner is the best and most logical option. I do though fear that stance may not be held by the powers that be at the club and will do less so if supporters become further disgruntled.

We need wins before we need better performances. If both can arrive together, we're back in dreamland. If not...

Who’s to say the purple patch wasn’t due more to Olise leading the attack and Anderson leading the back? It’s a results business and ours have been dire this season. Five games before the next break and if we don’t get 6 or 7 points I suspect we’ll be firmly in the bottom 3 and a decision will be made then.

I'd only suggest Dave that given both Andersen and Olise joined us in July 2021, unless you subscribe to the notion they were on protest or both waiting for the exact same moment to shine, the manager had some influence on events given the dramatic change in our fortunes.

That doesn't take away from the chasms they may both have left but I wouldn't write off the manager as not having had any influence on the entire team, way we play and our results.

The season has started badly and as I suggested in my original post football can be very short-sighted and unforgiving, however my inclination is to not panic unnecessarily at a still pretty early stage. That may be the best solution in the long run.

*I'd also add that I completely understand why some fans are unhappy and a bit jumpy though... as I am one of them! Just trying to hold my nerve for now.

i really hope we do not sack og, i think the fact is so many of our players did not have pre season break is a very big factor in our fortunes so far this season i am hoping for a big improvement monday night

I watched Glasner's press conference.
It was the usual measured affair.
Objective, balanced, fair and reasonable.
Trusting the process.
Keep doing the right things and try and avoid the costly mistakes.

And yet something about it made me cry out for a Brian Clough moment.
Try something different- play a youngster, play a player in an unfamiliar position.
Provoke a change to get a different response.
Perhaps the era of use of old school psychology has disappeared and the new methods of endless encouragement and support is the only recognised approach .
And yet football is a ruthless team sport and I still think there's a place for a kick up the .....when players aren't hitting the required levels.

To Glasner's credit he did, in his pre-match conference, include a reference to giving players a kick up the arse as well as an arm round the shoulder.

He's already done that with Kamada and Nketiah!

This should be the team, yet it wont be,
--------------Henderson-------------
Muñoz--Lacroix--Guehi--Mitchell
-------------Chalobah------------
-----Wharton---------Lerma-----
----------------Eze----------------
--------Mateta-----Nketiah-------

Doucoure instead of Chalobah if he is available,
