Interesting (?) Political stuff...

Starmer is No1 in the iTunes charts, well, not the real one. A lighthearted interlude from daily life & a parody . . .

I had a joke with Palaceoldgeezer that this would be Christmas no 1.

Yep, and here's another one. Surely no-one would make these videos if they thought he was doing a good job. Would love to see a parody taking the mick out of Starmer as Christmas no 1.

Just seen this & had to C&P it . . .

BREAKING: The BBC refuse to broadcast Anti-Starmer Christmas song ‘Freezing this Christmas’ in an attempt to stop it becoming the Christmas no.1 single.
The BBC would hate to see Keir Starmer embarrassed on this scale…

Not sure if it would get to No1 or not but it would be very embarrassing for a man and government that couldn't put any more feet wrong on a daily basis than they are already.
Also unbelievable that with inflation rising under the Tories - or not coming down quickly enough - that the B of E either put rates up or refused to lower them.
Today, three of those voting, voted to lower rates, regardless of what is going on.
Thankfully common sense prevailed but I fully expect to see inflation rising in the New Year and rates coming down, proving once and for all that the B of E is a liberal left wing group, incapable of doing the only job that they have to do.

Inflation has hit an eight-month high of 2.6 %, and many forecasters expect it to rise further in 2025. Growth is down, not up, albeit by 0.1 % but certainly not the “growth people can feel in their pocket” that the Prime Minister is promising. With concerns over firms laying off staff next year it’s no wonder the papers are peppered with warnings of ‘stagflation’.

In fairness to the BBC they also refused to play the Witch is dead when Thatcher died.

Did they not play it on their Sunday chart countdown? I remember it was a big 'will they/won't they' moment at the time and I did listen to it but just can't remember.

Interesting article about benefits.

The number of people who are net contributors to the tax pool is shrinking.

A few years ago I did a quick exercise where I used a benefits calculator to see what I could get.

2 adults and 2 children school age
1 working adult salary minimum wage
Renting property in the London area

Taxes paid
Income tax and national Insurance
Council Tax

Total tax paid about £3k

Benefits
Housing benefit (3 bed semi)
Working Tax benefit
Child Allowance
Council Tax discount (up to 100%)

Estimate of benefits £30k

Not included
Cost of Education and Health care

These numbers will have changed but you get the picture. A huge disconnect between tax paid and benefits received.

We can't continue along this path, as the demographics of getting older and starting work later keep going up the burden falls more and more on the middle classes.

Their reasons will actually be precisely the opposite to this.

They cannot be seen to be promoting anything political at all, whether positive or negative.
