It seems it’s me who’s wasting breath.Your wasting your breath he doesn't understand that the number of vacancies in the UK has been in SERIOUS decline since COVID, the last thing we need in this country is more unskilled labour.
I read the other day that the major high street banks have closed 6000 branches across the country since 2015. That is just one example.
People seem unable to separate what they believe our policies ought to be from the reality faced by those needing to deal with the situation that actually exists now.
It’s like telling the prison service that under capacity is not a problem, so early release or lighter sentencing is unnecessary, because you will cut crime rates. The latter is long term. The need is current.
Banks closing branches is down to changing needs. We are rapidly becoming a cashless society that shops online. So what is needed to service those changes has to change too. It’s the same in many service industries. Sure it will reduce employment for some and mean retraining for many. That’s the way our world is today.
