The point was that Schengen was apparently a terrible cause and therefore a reason not to adopt it, yet we are completely out but swamped and the Poles are in but not swamped. You make the point of hostility, and that's the reason, Schengen has frig all to do with it.

If there was no freedom of movement Western Europe would not be swamped with undocumented nomadic migrants. Of course there would be some, as I have previously stated, Italy have form for allowing them to proceed providing they left Italy within 7 days. Furthermore there would be checks on vehicles, which are being used to transport illegal migrants across the continent. In what world is it considered a good thing to have no checks on goods/people across virtually a whole continent?

I went to BBQ yesterday with ex-colleagues from Border Force, some who which work along the Kent Coast. What they told me regarding the amount of handouts/ assistance illegal migrants are receiving on arrival staggered even me.
Unfortunately the illegal migrant/ asylum figures quoted only seem to cover the Channel crossings, they conveniently forget to mention the daily arrivals at airports.

Is it so different to when people enter the USA, or Canada or Australia? Huge territory without internal checks between the various states. It’s not like it was but surely that means the new borders need to be very secure?

Do you remember the absolute meltdown that occurred when an elderly member of the Royal Household enquired about the outfit that a guest had chosen to wear to Buckingham Palace? Instant attack unfolded because the ethnicity and history of the wearer was questioned. I'd sue the school for hurt feelings, mental distress, exclusion etc.

In the last 4 years, 313,413 people claimed asylum in the UK, probably half of those by crossing the Channel in small boats or in the back of lorries etc. By the time you are reading this, the additions to that number for 2025 will likely have surpassed the 338,000 that were rescued from Dunkirk in 1940. Just a bit of context.
