How far can we go?

Ok, it’s a sunny morning the day after a fabulous win against a team worth a Billion on paper and the current league champions and many people’s tip to win again and the champions league.

After watching MOTD and finally getting the praise we have deserved, how far can we go this year?

Serious question and not one I’m asking with my Palace Forever specs on. Ollie has built a seriously good ‘team’ one with a foundation in what has to be one of, if not the best back 3 around. Ollie has made players, good players out of Richards and Mitchell. The former looks a £50 million defender and the later surely the most improved player in the team and due a call up for England. It took him a while but Mitchell is now getting forward like Munoz but still a better defender. I think the competition from Sosa has helped.

Villa did what we are doing now 2 seasons ago, s*** bag Forest nearly did it last year… could we actually skip past the Europa League and push for a place in the Champions league? I know I know…. I’m not getting carried away, but after the cup final and with all the s*** thrown our way, late signings, losing Eze you would think we would struggle, but Ollie’s foundation is so strong, his message so clear that we just keep going. It’s amazing when you think where we were when he came in.

I’m struggling to take it in, end of September and we are 2nd and unbeaten. That is wild. Surely Ollie gets manager of the month?

I don’t think it’s unrealistic to think we will pick up a trophy again this season. That is crazy when we can actually think like that without people thinking we are mental. Also strange hoping that Arsenal or City, Chelsea, Newcastle lose so they stay behind us in CL spots, instead of looking what Brentford, Wet Spam, Wolves etc are doing so we are not in relegation places. Amazing.

Long long may this continue. COYP.

In the words of Bond… “I must be dreaming”
I hope not.

It usually precipitates a rapid downward form trajectory.

On Oddschecker, we are 80/1 to win the league and 33/1 to be relegated!

I just feel that with the conference league games towards the end of the season we will tire. It has happened to a lot of teams playing Europe in the past come the end of the season they miss out.

But who knows? That man Oliver Glasner has me believing in anything.
Possibly an Ange effect, but Forest may be suffering already. Villa are winning as I write but only due to a disgraceful non handball decision on a shot sure to be a goal that would have put them 2 down
It's all down to avoiding any more significant injuries and hoping the new players prove good enough to be in the rotatation

The skys the limit with Glasner if the club back him . But lets see where we are at the end of the season .

Nobody really knows what the situation is with our manager , has he caught the Palace bug or are we just a stepping stone to greater riches that the bigger clubs can offer ? He does appear to enjoy the close knit group he is working with ,he wont get that at the so called bigger clubs

I'm just enjoying the ride and long may it continue .

The stepping stone aspect has been noted and commented upon since the start....let's be frank 2 year contracts suggest little else.

It's remains the view until proven different....It's not just Glasner but it translates in valuable players coming up....Daichi Kamada could do with a contract or extension for example.

If we win the league and we're relegated this season then a £10 double would get you a lot.

A ten pound bet on winning the league this season and being relegated next when all the stars feck off including the manager would be an interesting way of migrating the pain.

The remembrance of Venables leaving with his players for QPR is there for me.
Let's hope we win the league (I think a top ten finish is more likely) and that people sign contracts and none of that other bad crap happens to us.

Glasner won't have heard of QPR 😁 and his wife isn't an agent, I don't think.

I can't begin to predict where we'll get to this season. The football we played yesterday was stunning, but can we play like that against teams who park the bus? Difference for me, is now I'm excited about the next game not dreading it!

One game at a time because in the PL there are no easy games - Man U apart of course!

I heard of someone getting thousands to one on the 94/5 season, where they had a triple of the two cup semi finals and being relegated. They put a tenner on it.
