How far can we go?

Ill be surprised if Riad was match fit this calendar year and Canvot has to be next season/cups.

But no-one has mentioned Uche in forward play. Back up AM, CF and LW and 1st choice for cup games.
Well you might but Glasner wont be. He says Riad will be back and in contention by the next international break at the latest. He might break down again, who knows? You dont. Neither do I

Wow, we have reached the dizzy heights of an Adam Clery tactical masterclass

I think this guy is excellent, though opinions differ, and as you know the youtubers make the money by clicks so you can guess which teams get most coverage. Still very informative on football tactics

And this time it's all Palace

Running tables seem to be solid foundation for doing predictions, with the only drawback that promoted teams cannot be included.

Could you please post a link to this one?
It's my own work. I used to have a website but let it go fallow. With AI making it much easier to code, I am creating some ad hoc tables/charts and may put them all together and publish them on the web. They will be interactive so for this example you would be able to enter the number of games you wanted the table to cover

If we were able to field our best team with a strong bench for the rest of the season a top 6 position could be attainable.
However, it will not be possible to always have our best options available.
For example Sarr and Uche may well be unavailable for 6 games during Afcon.
Then there will be the inevitable injuries and suspensions.
Sarr and Wharton pick up injuries and Hughes collects suspensions.

It was noteworthy that Forest looked an organised, effective and efficient team last season and looked assured of a Champions League place until the last weeks when they fell away.
They didn't have a strong enough squad ultimately.
It doesn't necessarily follow that we would similarly fall away, but at this stage it looks difficult.
For example there may be times where we have to field Kamada and Devenny in the number 10 roles either side of Mateta.
This obviously doesn't carry the same threat and may leave the team achieving draws instead of wins.

Ultimately, we just need some luck to avoid multiple injuries/absences in the same position at the same time.

e.g. during Afcon. Pino, Kamada, Devenny and Nketiah will be enough to cover the 10s. But if we lose Pino or JPM in that period we'll be in trouble.

Great result against arguably the hardest game in our European tour (no I am not assuming we will walk it or anything like that).

We really are living in a golden moment for our team. I never thought I would see the day we lift the FA cup and thought that was as good as it was going to get (and still might be) but what Ollie has built and continues to build... wow this is something special. We look so tight as a unit. Every single player knows his job. What looked like ordinary players under Roy now look like top tier players (Mitchell, Richards, Hughes etc), Pino looks to be filling in nicely for Ebbs and if Wharton isn't a £100 million plus player I don't know who it. What a team we now have.
I am not saying we are unbeatable but nobody is going to look forward to playing us. I would honestly fancy our chances of getting a result (not necessarily a win) against anybody right now.

I am loving every minute of this. Everton I fear will be a harder test that Liverpool as they seem to be hard for us to beat and Moyes is no tactical mug. If we get something from that then I really will start to think this is our special season. The one I dreamed about when I was a kid.

Also, I know I know I shouldn't... but a special shout out to Forest on there amazing performance in 'Our' European slot. Bravo 😉

Agreed. They are enriching the competition and doing the PL proud.

The only thing I am worried about is UEFA finding a way to put the boot in because of the songs.

Unless Nketiah declares for Ghana. Which I suspect he will.
Maybe playing himself into Tuchel's plans? Not impossible with the lack of strikers. None of the English strikers except Kane have been doing that well, I don't think. I know Watkins got a couple the other day but I think they were his first for awhile. He's been on poor form. Can't remember many other actual strikers who are English. It's probably Kane and then shoe horn someone like Palmer in (who's injured I think).

I think a top 4 finish is a realistic aim for this season.

It helps that some of the so-called 'Big Clubs' (e.g. Man Utd) seem to be way off the mark, and several of the recent successful mid-size clubs (Villa, Forest, Newcastle etc) have lost their way a bit as well.

Very unlikely. Tuchel watches us a lot but prefers Henderson and Loftus-Cheek to Wharton and Spence and Lewis-Skelly to Mitchell

I can see what you mean but strikers seem relatively non existent. However, so do left backs. When you consider it is it better to put a right back at left back, or use Mitchell? He's only been the statistically best English left back for about three seasons so Tuchel may not have noticed.
Midfield I can kind of understand. Wharton is just back. I don't want him risked anyway. Henderson has been doing ok but can't be considered for ninety minutes by the looks of things.
