Here we go, blatant two tier judiciary

I am a law-abiding citizen. I pay my license fee. And my taxes. Bring my kids up, help my neighbours, do all that stuff. Married, try to be a good Catholic (ok, on that bit I struggle but thats the bloody point of it), act civily towards all.

This is what the Far Right do these days. We get married. We have families. We support each other.

Whilst you on the Left sneer at us.
DanH moved (emigrated in effect) to a right wing area now considered far right by these loons.

Best tell Matov and eaglesdare.

(I’m not religious at all - was just christened one and mum’s side are from Cork)
A great-great-great grandmother of mine was from Cork (Protestant). They came to London in the 1830s after the Catholics attacked them.

The BBC headline, and wider report, is very, very telling and, like so much else, it is what it does not talk about that is the crucial part.

We live in an occupied land, where the considerations and feelings of a foreign nation are considered of far more importance than that of the native population here.

The BBC has got itself into trouble over this whether it has broken the law I have no idea.

At the very least the BBC needs to make changes. Some have said that the BBC does not pick the acts yet some artists have complained that the BBC has too much influence.

Whatever the truth the BBC can have influence.

Glastonbury has grown and grown helped by the live wall to wall coverage from the BBC, the owners need the BBC.

The obvious solution is that the BBC tells the owners:

1. We will not broadcast this act as they are known to be trouble e.g. Kneecap.
2. All acts will be shown time delayed e.g. 15 mins so if anyone goes off script the BBC will stop broadcasting them and go to other acts.

This should have been in place already so poor of the BBC not to anticipate that an act would do something stupid. It doesn't have to be politics there are plenty of examples of acts all over the world doing stupid things for publicity e.g. wardrobe malfunction.

If the time delay is already in place then why was it not used?

Glastonbury does not need the BBC, Badger.

Fine then they can ignore the BBC and the BBC should walk away.

We are not talking about a Royal marriage or coronation. It's a music festival and if the organisers wont play ball then the BBC has a duty to the public which overrides the prestige of putting it on.

The BBC did have a huge role in making Glastonbury what it is today. You maybe right that it no longer needs them but the beeb has protocols for showing live television. You would not expect the BBC to live stream Terrorist murdering people, they simply wouldn't do it.

A time delay with the threat that coverage will be switched should be enough.

Leaving any right/left involvement aside how would this event have affected any Jewish people who were there?
It's a curious blind spot on the part of those joining in the chanting that they would be ready to throw around accusations of racism in any other case but this one.

And Glastonbury doesn’t need my license fee!
Agreed. The big picture:

The BBC wants to replace the licence fee because it is expensive to run, non payers especially women and the poor are being hauled into court and an increasing number of people are refusing to pay.

The last Tory government made vague threats about abolition of compulsion. Now in opposition that view appears to have harden.

Reform have said they will abolish compulsion so if Labour lose the next election it is likely that Reform and Tory MPs will combine to make that happen.

The current Labour government is the only major party of the 3 that is sympathetic to the BBC. So I can understood Starmer's anger that whilst trying to persuade the public that the BBC is unbiased and a national institution this happens.

The BBC is not helping itself with one scandal after another. I imagine Starmer is thinking with friends like this who needs...

Good, because with the attitude they displayed towards complaints over their radicalism means they don't deserve the large amount of mainstream coverage they receive.

I have no issues with Glastonbury running whatever kind of legal festive they wish. However, they book the acts and they produced the belligerent attitude and response to concerns that were raised before this happened.

Unlike what the left would try to do with a right wing festive I don't agree with shutting it down or harassing the people running it. However, I certainly don't believe they deserve the trust nor investment they get from a publicly funded media organisation.....What happened goes against both the law and the impartiality that the BBC are meant to try and represent.
