Glasner to Forest

Think tbis was written by a 5 year old. Just lazy clickbait nonsense. Like most of these so called journalists they just sit around thinking what might get a headline, then write that with no source or hard facts.
Our well-known supporter and jolly nice chap John Pienaar, began his career as a journalist on the 'South London Press' and I recall his opening headline in respect of Wimbledon FC, "Dons sound their warning".
John would not resort to the level you have highlighted.

Forest a bigger club?

Since the Premier League began, we have spent 17 seasons in it.
Forest have had 9.
In that period, we have won 1 FA Cup, 1 Charity Shield and 1 Conference Cup.
Forest have won 0.

We are 1 of 17 London clubs, 6 of which are in South London. Our capacity limits our attendance to 25,194. We have never had an average less than 24k in the Premier League in our current run.

Forest are one of only 2 clubs in Nottingham. Since 1978, they have never had an average season attendance of over 30k until 2025. Their current capacity 30,445. The previous time they were in the Premier League in 1999, their average was 24,415.

Forest might have a few old trophies thanks mainly to Brian Clough, but even then they weren't a big club. What they did was similar to what Leicester did. They came from nowhere and then went back to nowhere again.

Are they really a bigger club than Palace? The evidence does not support that.

I’ve been thinking about how difficult it will be to avoid seeing his pre match presser’s for Nott’s Forest. A bit like avoiding your favourite restaurants because you might bump into your ex misses and her new fella!

I hope Forest lose their first 5 games and the fat b****** sacks Glasner before he has a chance to prove what a great manager he is.

Who cares? He was no longer our manager when he was appointed to this role.

He owes us nothing and should always be remembered for two (and more,) amazing Wembley wins and an Unforgettable night in Leipzig.

Ok it s Forest but I think I felt more betrayed when Venables left to go to QPR or Dowie to Charlton.

Football and loyalty have not been on speaking terms for a long time.

Where I do care will be if they poach our best players or simply unsettled them. They can sign them.butbfpr their value to us not them.

Glasner deserves the mega pay for having to work for the fruit loop that is the Forest Chairman.

Now can we sign some new players please?.
Steve Bruce trundling off to work for the d1ldo brothers at Birmingham was annoying too.

I didn't watch his interviews since his outburst when he managed us. So I certainly won't be watching any Forest ones. Did you watch any Forest interviews last season? I only ever see them by accident at most, on Sky Sports News and they're all just cliches in general.

i'm not sure using attendances as 'evidence' supports your case.

When Palace finished 3rd in 1991 we regularly got 15k crowds and even in our promotion year in 2013 our average was 17k.

Forest have always had larger attendances than us (since we lost so many in the early 80s) and when they got promoted from the championship their average was 28k. Since they got back up they have managed to slightly increase their capacity to above 30k, hence why their attendances have edged up above 30k.

I agree Forest are not a big club, however, they are slightly bigger than us. Supporter base, ground, annual revenue etc all support this.

When our ground holds 34k. I'm sure we will have bigger crowds. If they increase their capacity, they will have bigger crowds again.

It doesn't prove anything.

I'm open to any argument that Forest are bigger, and it is up to the person claiming it to prove it.

I think Forest were bigger quite a long time ago now. I don't think they are any more. We need to invest in ourselves or get overtaken however. Clearly, the ground and the capacity are an issue.

I stand by my statement. Everyday we hear about players we are buying players we are selling blah, blah, blah yet I would guess 95% is just bullsh** made up by lazy hacks. I could call myself a journalist and come up with fairy tales like most do and say it came from a source.
Your friend Pienaar maybe a nice chap and one of the very few good writers but the vast majority are a joke.
End of rant

When?

Sure they won stuff. When they won the European Cup in '79 and '80 their average attendances were 29,587 and 26,350. When they won the League in '78 it was 32,501.

By comparison, when we finished 13th in the league in '80, we had an average of 29,794.

Imagine if we had actually won something.

Just about money; clicks equal traffic which increases advertising rates. It's almost all complete cobblers - how many sites make you accept cookies to read a story which then turns out to be behind a pay wall or quotes some mysterious coach from another club who apparently has the inside track on all Palace's transfer targets?

My algorithm is full of social media b0llox from "Notts" Forest fans, they genuinely believe they will become a top club and will have a huge amount of success under Glasner. If they do, fair play to them...but if they dont, they will become even more of a laughing stock than they already are!

In most respects it’s difficult to to assess Notts Forest as a bigger club than Palace.
There are any number of clubs with bigger grounds, capacities, etc, and they are not even in the Premier.. what covers all of them and Palace is potential.
If Forest are paying the rumoured £13 mill a year to Glasner, that alone puts them head and shoulders above Palace, and I would guess every other club of similar stature.
As for Glasner, his entitled to work for anyone, he had the whole football world to choose a project from but knowing the recent less than pleasant relations between the two clubs he chooses Forest, as said he is entitled but what does that say about his ethics.?

They can be bought.

He's not the first and won't be the last.

But we didn't and they did. Not now though - well in the past. We're probably similar overall despite their big trophies of fifty years ago. We're the bigger team currently. Our owners are also richer but just don't have the same amount of cash to launder.
If they win stuff or finish high up the table - and we don't, they will overtake us again.
Not much we can do about attendances currently.

Sheesh, Give it a rest with the my-clubs-bigger-than-yours gesturing. (yes I know we're all palace, but that's what it feels like!)
Who cares which club is 'bigger' (no one seems to be able to agree on what that even means anyway). Isn't it what you do with it that counts - and we've bedded a lot more trophies than them in recent years!

OG's gone to Forest, not because the size of the club, but because he's got no morals and he was offered a vat of cash, both in his bank account and in his transfer kitty. He's unashamedly the face of modern football; no loyalty, no humility and just after personal glory and a big bank balance. Fair enough if that's how he wants to live his life. It's a shame tho, as when I look at him from now on, I'll see that and not the man that brought us the 2 most successful seasons in our history and the 3 pieces of silverware.

Hopefully, Sage can bring us 3 more successful years, and the Europa cup and more then he'll be the most successful.

By your reasoning, that means Preston ARE a bigger club than us. To me, previous achievements are in the past. They do not count today. Palace currently are a bigger club than Forest
100% in modern football Palace are a more successful club than Forest and by definition bigger. History is a great thing to look back on but that was a long time ago. Forest were once a giant. Lets get real. Forest have not been a big club since the 1980s regardless how much money they throw around.
In the last 25 years Forest have spent 20 of them in the Championship or even lower. They have won nothing in that time. Neither have they come close.
During the same period Palace have spent 14 seasons (including Jordan's 1 year stint) in the Premiership. We have appeared in 3 FA cup semi finals, 2 finals, we have won the FACup, the Community Shield and the Europa Conference League. We are about to embark on our second year in a row in Europe. We have more international players. We have produced more England players and our academy makes theirs look like the Dog N Duck.
In terms of fanbase they fill their stadium which is bigger. When our Main Stand is complete the stadiums will hold roughly the same. Except we are in London and have a bigger/better catchment area.
I would 100% say we are currently the more successful as well as desirable club. As you quite rightly say, if a club is measured on previous cups won in long ago history Preston, Blackpool, Burnley and even Stoke are giants! this we all know to be rubbish
