Glasner to Extend?

Give him what he wants:

  • More £££? Not a problem, we'll get a whip round going.
  • Transfer warchest? Sorted, we'll get the bolt cutters on Harris and Blitzer's purses.
  • Sacrifice a lamb before every game? Can do, we can nip into Sainsbury's before the game for some lamp chops.
  • The London Philharmonic Orchestra to play the Imperial March when you come out of the tunnel? We'll ask Bill Nighy to put in a good word.
  • Need someone to find a kidnapped relative? Easy, we'll get Liam Neeson on the case.
  • Make Édouard a key member of the squad when he's back from relegating Leicester? Easy now son, that's an ask too far...

I thought that point followed on from the previous one (kidnapped relative).

Edouard has plenty of expertise in going missing so should bring some insight to that exercise.

you forgot to mention a year's supply of Wiener Schnitzels.

I think every effort must be made to tie him to Palace for as long as possible. The dream (for me anyway) would be to map out a 5 year plan to step by step keep making progress year on year with no expectation of winning anything specific although giving him all the resources possible to help him do so.
Rip up his existing contract, big pay rise (within budget of course), go after the players he wants and lets go for it!

If on the other hand he doesn't want to extend beyond the end of next season we should make it clear no amount of compensation will tempt Palace to part with him next season. We still back him to the hilt and start looking for a quality replacement for when he left in a years time.

Hopefully though he'll buy into the idea of staying and building something massive.

During the season my pronouncements have included

- Kamada can't play in a midfield 2
- Richards can't play on the right of a back 3
- Neither Eze nor Sarr are suited to the inside forward roles in a front 3
- We don't have the players to play the preferred system

Extend Glasner by all means as he seems to know what he's doing, but time for me to step down.

Fair play for the honesty

You may be right as the following excerpt from an interview shows:

"We always have schnitzel the day before a match. We're now getting pretty close to Austrian cuisine. At first, it was schnitzel with sauce, then later with strawberry jam. Now, however, we have cranberries with schnitzel, just like we do at home," Glasner smiles.

who's been putting jam on Ollie's schnitzels? sack the b*stard! cranberries eh? cranberry sauce you see, hence the confusion I would say, a dollop of which usually goes with Sauerbrauten (Weiterleitungshinweis) - my dad was Czech so I know the nosh.

This is what a top manager does. He is paid the big bucks because he knows what he is doing. We all have opinions but he is an expert in his field. We can all just sit back and trust his judgement.

I suspect the transfer activity in this 'Window' will be a major factor in the decision making process of Oliver Glasner.
Early in the window but currently the media have dropped no indication that any signings are close. This is of course the norm when it comes to Palace only Parish acknowledged what a massive mistake it was last summer to complete signings so late in the window plus Glasner himself (while always very respectful of his employers) made it crystal clear he was unhappy with the lateness of arrivals when half his existing squad were knackered from international duty.

Hopefully lessons have been learned. If not I agree that Glasner may well consider his position.

its a fantastic problem that we have a manager who is hot-property in the transfer market. Scary, but fantastic. Now that Spurs have robbed the Brentford manager, i am feeling optimistic that Glasner will stay with us for European football. Cos ManUre will be boring again next season......and its a toxic club anyway.

So over to you SP - either back OG or we lose our most successful Manager, in our most successful time ever..!!

You kept going on about taking us to the next level - now we’re here need to back those words with actions and funds..!!

Now we’ll see whether SP was genuine in his ambitions or whether it was all just rhetoric and telling us what we wanted to here..!!

Time will tell..!!
