Glasner Out

The club is being hung out to dry in public by Glasner and now Mateta, versus Guehi and Eze who left us in classy fashion without melodrama and tantrums in public. I really would like Steve Parish to put a stop to this nonsense and for once, go on the offensive to save the pride and reputation of our club.

Hire a top striker, let Mateta sit on the bench and warm his world cup ass and send a message to those that think we are a push over. Of course Glasner has to be shown the door as well, so hire an interim.

At the moment we are being branded as a club with no ambition by those that have fed the media.

Time Steve to show your mettle, go on the offensive and make a "statement" once and for all that we are South London and Proud ..... that is how we won the cup and that is why we not going to be messed about with, by self absorbed coaches, players and their agents.
I like that Steve, radical but I like it.

This is one of many posts in recent days, pouring vitriol on Glasner while seeming to give Guehi (and to a lesser extent Eze) a free pass. I'm clearly the exception with my views on this. Guehi refused to sign a new contract of any sort and the result is that his value to the Club diminished significantly as a result. The timing of his departure was also incredibly difficult for the club, coming as it did the day before a game (though we don't know whether he had any say in the timing). And Guehi's and Eze's departure unfortunately both speak of a club with limited ambition, particularly as the club has not brought in quality replacements. I understand all the issues around FFP etc but to any reasoned observer, we are not going to progress (or even hold the status quo) if we continually sell our best players.
Glasner was wrong to express his opinion in public as he did, but in my view, its easy to understand his frustration at how the summer turned out with the timing and the quality of the players that were brought in for what was always going to be a challenging season. He decided not to renew, as did Guehi, but he's the one in the metaphorical 'stocks' while Guehi receives unstinting praise despite doing the same thing.
I do hope the mood on here is not going to be in widespread evidence during the game on Sunday. There is still a lot to play for and further upheaval arising from the fans turning on the players and the manager is only going to further reduce our chances of having a positive end to the season.

You are not a lone voice - I agree in the main.
Football needs a bad guy, and for the moment it's Glasner.

Guehi made it crystal clear last season that he wasn't going to sign a new contract. We had ample time to sell him for a top fee but chose not to. It's not his fault that we bit City's hand off during this window rather than let him go for nothing in a few months. Gladner is a different kettle of fish entirely.

An interesting post, in Glasner's case as manager he has an example to set, and he failed miserably. Plus as he knew he was leaving why go into one and yet at the same time say that he wanted to stay to win the conference league? If he really felt let down by Parish why not just honourably tender his resignation and leave? I should add that Parish is just as big a villain in the piece for reasons laid out on these pages and elsewhere.
As for the players you mention, despite their professed religious beliefs they are just as greedy and money grubbing as the next greedy footballer and agent.

I don't think I am heaping it all on Glasner, even though his behaviour has been appalling to say the least. I am more of the opinion that we find ourselves in a bind and we can either rearrange the deckchairs on the Titanic .... or ...... be bold, brave and set the tone for the future with a signal of intent. Failure to change the narrative with a new statement and action, will inevitably have the club seen as a failure to capitalize on opportunity and we will be seen as the club that choked when we had the chance to elevate ourselves from mediocrity. And yes, I understand all the FFP backdrop, but winners are those that chose to embrace adversity and make a difference with courage and action.

Cant we get one of those medieval sling shot things, perhaps we can launch him into Norwood Lakes

I don't think Glasner will quit. Call it stubborn or professional, or greedy. I think he'll only go if either sacked or gets an offer from another club.

Equally, the Board have Palace's best interests at heart. If Glasner continues his professional work with the team and squad. then the only way they'll realistically sack him, is if they have a better option ready to go. And I have no idea which Manager's they might be considering. I don't think a stop-gap is a good option when Palace is on a downward trajectory.

Our under 18s just put four on Newcastle at their place without reply in the F. A. Youth Cup. Some stars in the making for sure. Yes, of course it's some distance from doing it in the Premiership, but I'd feel these boys were more 'Palace' than these big time Charlies who think they are too good for us (that includes Glasner). Time to promote the U.18 coach too.

Promote him to what? U21s coach? Surely you're not suggesting he is given Glasner's job?
