Glasner Out

He wouldn’t be wrong. They’ve made a complete fist of it.

Funnily enough more people were saying that on here in the early summer before they’d had a real chance, and when Oli was still happy. I was defending Steve and co at the time on the basis that it was too early to judge.

Now it seems to have flipped around entirely, a lot of people have forgotten their dismay at the decisions up top just as they’ve become blatantly clear, and the manager has decided to weigh in on them.
To my mind this is a good summary.

I think the club and Glasner will try to downplay the whole issue in the near term.

Glasner has a press conference on Friday in which it wouldn’t surprise me if he says
- I’ve said my piece and have no more to add
- my focus is solely on the rest of the season and competing as well as possible in the Premier League and Conference
- it’s not about me, it’s about what’s best for Palace
- JPM is a Palace player until another club makes a suitable offer to the club
- the club is still looking to add one or two players

He'll read that from a piece of paper.

......

I think we are getting these tantrums because a couple of months ago he may have felt he could walk into a Manchester United-level job, and now he is watching his stock fall rapidly with every poor performance, his chances of moving up are shrinking each time he fails to get more out of a squad he has not managed well this season.

.....
Very good post. This is the most important point.

Glasner told Parish he wasn't going to stay in October. At that time we were flying, so his decision wasn't likely related to his current frustrations. In the cold light off day he felt he had taken palace as far as he could and had earned a crack at something bigger. Quite right too, and fair enough.

Point is, from then onwards it's all about palace as a platform for him to shine. No bad thing in itself if all goes well, but what we saw last weekend was bourne totally from frustration that his personal ambitions were being compromised, nothing to do with doing his job well for the club who pay him. He was willing to throw hand grenades around the place to protect his individual reputation. The laughable notion that he is looking out for the players and fans is the height of bullshit, and an insult to intelligence.

Saw a clip of the Peterborough chairman earlier on where he made his observations. He reckons its a storm in a teacup. Glasner probably fancied an early exit but not without a payoff. Parish has probably made it clear he can go if he wants but he'll have to resign. No pay off.
Therefore Glasner will crack on. The board will stay well back and let him get on with it. Matt Hobbs can (and has already been) the conduit that links the manager to the board if he really needs dialogue with Parish.
I personally dont see the problem. In an age where players regularly go on strike to force a move and when it fails to happen he has to get on with it and the fans have to accept that he's staying. Similar situation. The only added issue is our form. But then again if he didn't sort our form out soon I'd imagine Parish will pull the plug anyway.
So we give up 3 more games and then boot him out,

More to the point Klopp was stepping back from management. Glasner is stepping back from Palace. Absolutely massive difference in how that is perceived by your fans. Glasner can f:;@ right off as far as I’m concerned.
I'm normally one of the last to want a manager replaced, especially if said manager is statistically one of, if not the best in our long history of mediocrity.

Saying he doesn't care if he is the manager or not means he is now dead to me. We don't ask for much as Palace fans, even after winning something we maintain realism, but hard work, passion, and effort are all we want to see. People like Glasner and Mateta can do one once they want away. It doesn't matter how good they once were, they are like cancers to morale. Get them gone.

If you pick up a knock, you still stay around the team and tend to end up returning at some point. It’s also not intentional to pick up a knock.
Who is to say Guehi couldn’t be around the team for that game? He comes across as far more level-headed and mature than Glasner acted over the weekend. Frankly I think he might have been a calming influence.

In terms of returning at some point Glasner’s anger wasn’t about Guehi not returning it was about that game.

I had sympathy for him at the point he apparently heard Guehi was going on Friday but at that point his reaction became the far bigger problem and he went from being an asset to a liability for that weekend, for which I think he should apologise to the fans who contribute to his wages.

Me now thinks that Glasner, now wants to appear the Saint and depict the Board as the sinners, in order that he can walk away with his reputation in tact and this long run of losses is down to lack of backing in the market.
Sooner we can get a Manager and replacement striker who wants to be here the better.

Loyalty to the remaining players, and yes to us even though some have turned their backs on him.
What loyalty is Glasner showing to us? I don’t think we were mentioned in his announcement of a decision to not renew his contract or the interviews that followed. He said he doesn’t care about our club? He is, somewhat grudgingly, honouring a contract.

He turned his back on us, not the other way around.

About ten pages ago, I mentioned it being quite ironic that we wait for a replacement before getting rid of Glasner. It's still ironic and getting more so. Parish will have the last laugh here. Some revenge.
In the meantime, this is not good enough for any club. Sack and use interim. See what happens. We're not left with any choice. Sack for gross misconduct or for one of the many legal clauses like bringing the club into disrepute.
And Glasner - thanks and f*** off now. We go on wherever that will be.

He literally said he is here to protect the players, and the club. He mentioned players, club, and fans in the infamous day of interviews and said it was all out best interest for the club.

Basically, if Parish wants to sack him he will, If he wants to keep him he will. But he won’t be scared of that to not do what he feels is in our best interest. So he was putting US ahead of himself by being outspoken.

It would appear that Glasner has gone from 'Hero' to 'Zero' as far as our supporters are concerned and perhaps he will be left in no doubt as to the prevailing mood at our game on Sunday.Maybe he will face shot and shell if the game is not going in our favour.
Matchday might give an indication of crowd feeling. You have to bear in mind that most Palace supporters aren't registered with the HOL or BBS. There are thousands who get on with their work, and their lives and don't check back on websites every 30 minutes, to see if anyone has posted something. Weird and unnatural though it may seem. 😀

If Palace are cruising at 4-0 up at half time, the fans will always back the team. And Manager.
Even at 0-0 there might be applause.
No-one expects anything but a loss in any event from the Chelsea game. It'll be the nature in which it might happen that lets the imagination wander a bit.

The owner's done himself a big favour with the locals there.

The club is being hung out to dry in public by Glasner and now Mateta, versus Guehi and Eze who left us in classy fashion without melodrama and tantrums in public. I really would like Steve Parish to put a stop to this nonsense and for once, go on the offensive to save the pride and reputation of our club.

Hire a top striker, let Mateta sit on the bench and warm his world cup ass and send a message to those that think we are a push over. Of course Glasner has to be shown the door as well, so hire an interim.

At the moment we are being branded as a club with no ambition by those that have fed the media.

Time Steve to show your mettle, go on the offensive and make a "statement" once and for all that we are South London and Proud ..... that is how we won the cup and that is why we not going to be messed about with, by self absorbed coaches, players and their agents.

I've seen a couple of rucks with management in the workplace. Shame in the first instance, because stuff like that shouldn't be done in public.
No-one involved thought to apologise or explain to those that had seen it. It was resolved behind closed doors and the workplace went on without any comment.

That's what'll happen here.

Unless there's a huge falling out, and court papers are served during the presser.
