Glasner Out

I was about to post yesterday that I anticipate an announcement would be made in short order but was interrupted by a call relating to the departure of Robert Jenrick and thereafter politics consumed my time !!
Some while back I mentioned privately, and perhaps on HOL, that all the time there was a news 'Blackout' supposition and speculation would continue unabated.
The truth is out! Willo is Kemi Badenock! All that “my lethario days “ stuff was a smokescreen!

I'm waiting for this thread to turn round into "it's all Parish's fault, if only he'd backed Ollie" blah blah time and space loop continuum Star Trek TNG storyline saga...
Q is a good shout as next manager. Play the Borg up front, Klingons on the wing and Data as tactical analyst

Mystic Meg strikes again

I personally dont think Glasner will see the season out. He could even be gone as early as next week. There are two weeks of the window left and we cant attract new players with a lame duck manager. If as reported we have been looking for his replacement get him in now to oversee signings.

Glasner said he agreed with Parish back in October not to mention the fact that he would not be signing a new contract.
What is unclear today is whether Parish was on board about today’s announcement or whether he was he blindsided.
I recall at the backend of last year Parish was asked about Glasner’s future and said discussions were ongoing and he had a good dinner out with Glasner when the contract was discussed.
At the time many in here reading between the lines thought Parish sounded downbeat about Glasner staying.
Not really surprising if Parish already knew Glasner was going.

None of this really matters now, but it might do if results fail to improve and the inevitable finger pointing and blame apportioning starts.
There is a part of me that feels that Glasner will not see out the season.
I know Glasner has denied it but, I can’t see beyond the poor summer window as his reason for going ( or the UEFA f*** up)

If Parish knew in October there's no excuse for not having succession plans well in hand.
My choice?
Thomas Frank.
Experienced in PL and can work with small budgets.
The Spurs experience will be chastening for him.
Frank is my firm top choice too. He would make us hard to beat, good at set pieces, and works well with the squad he's given.
Plus the fan base will back him unlike his current lot.

Damaged goods now.

When also you analyse Glasner's stints at Wolfsburg (2019–2021) and Eintracht Frankfurt (2021–2023) the same pattern emerges:

High standards and low patience when he feels the squad/structure isn’t matching the targets, rather than "disloyal manager who abandons clubs." We have already heard plenty about the high standards he expects from players and it seems the same applies to owners. The man is a winner.

Sorry, I read that as the man is a whiner, which equally applies to someone who doesn’t get what he wants.

Thank you and goodbye.
I think our season is now over! I know we have the conference league to go for and league position to play for in the premier league. However after today’s announcements of OG leaving and the selling of Marc I cannot see that things will improve.

I think the players will all be a tad disillusioned and I believe that the team will stop playing for OG if they haven’t already (Leeds/Macclesfield) I also doubt that the players only found out today (impossible to keep it secret since October) which makes me question even more their attitude against Macclesfield.

We have also just sold our best defender with no real replacement in place. Certainly not one that is premier league ready. There is also a lot of click bait regarding JP and if he was also to go it’s like we have already written the season off.

We have seen our team torn apart so many times over the years, and never made the most of what we had until last year.

Its like we have been living in a fairytale, and prince Glasner took us to the ball, but the clock has struck midnight, and we need to scurry back to the Palace basement, but this time we have a couple of shiny cups to remember and so the prince can fcuk off into the sunset and we thank him for his kind service.

Whatever happens we remain Palace and will get behind the new manager when appointed.
(Not unless it’s bloody Hodgson again 🤣!)

I mean what does he expect? All traditional mid table teams and with budget constraints.

I assume his next job if it's another "mid table team" will be the same outcome.

The feeling was all to brief.

That feeling on match day that we could take on anybody and have a good chance, even against the like of Manchester City and Liverpool ( sadly not Arsenal)!
Going into every game expecting a good result, of almost invinciblity.

The last time I had that feeling was with the Coppell team of Wright, Bright, Gray and Thomas.

I hope it doesn’t take around another 40 years to get the feeling back which is roughly the period between Coppell and Glasner.
