Glasner Out

If Parish knew in October there's no excuse for not having succession plans well in hand.
My choice?
Thomas Frank.
Experienced in PL and can work with small budgets.
The Spurs experience will be chastening for him.
I dont think by any means Parish is stupid, and i am sure whoever the next manager is will be known by Parish and himself, similar to the Glasner situation 2 years ago, i would love to see Iraola, but he may be wanting better.

Hutter has been to Selhurst twice this season, he was in Glasners box for Bournemouth and again in December. He was linked prior to Glasner, maybe OG has recommended him as his successor

Surely Johnson was told by Parish and Glasner that he wouldn't be there, which begs the question who wanted Johnson, surely Glasner had no input into the deal, maybe, hopefully, the new manager.

At least Hutter plays 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1,

Guess the fairytale ride was never meant to be forever, but seeing the BBC news about both Guehi (gone) and Glasner (leaving) was a shocker. But hey, we are the Palace, we will get over it and go on for more success. Though the timing of Glasner's tale of leaving sucks - now it is time to really get behind the team. And soon Sarr and Munoz are back....

It's nothing to do with lack of investment in players. The Munoz injury and Sarr at the Afcon have made a huge difference, of course, plus Mateta still hasn't recovered from a knee injury, but it's more about tactics. We have basically been found out by opposing managers. They have worked out that Glasner always plays the same system, and won't change it during matches. A low block and counter attacking only works if we convert our chances. For me, Pino and Nketiah are huge disappointments. Apart from a couple of excellent goals, Pino is too lightweight and, like Nketiah, runs around like a headless chicken. Glasner started well at Eintracht Frankfurt, but went on a winless run due to sticking to the same formation. I fear for him going to a big club where he has to cope with the egos of overpaid players.

4 wins in 16 home games this season,
Haven't won for 9 games,
Failed to qualify for conf lge knockout round (without play off) despite being favourites and drawing a cypriot and finnish team at home,
Getting knocked out by a non-league team in fa cup.

I think he is a very good coach and there has been a lot of injuries etc (although he now says he was happy with size of squad and the personnel) but he would be lucky to keep his job at another squad with this form. Especially if he told the owner a long time ago that he wouldn't be sticking around for much longer!!

What I dont understand is this:

As a club we always do our transfer business right at the end of window, to the annoyance of the incumbent manager.

When we have a manager who the top brass know is leaving we go and sign a player in a position which is not top priority (in my view) right at the start of the window.

Who were we trying to impress? It's all very Palace.

Apologies if someone else has already said this elsewhere, but I'm experiencing a bit of Palace supporter fatigue this week and haven't read everything.

We have dropped 8 points from a winning position so far this season. One of the problems is that we struggle to get that second goal, then we run out of steam and don’t have the quality of players on the bench that can keep us in front. I would just like to see us dig in a bit more with a low block and grind out a result.
Hodgsons football was turgid to watch and he rarely used his bench, but he could grind out a 1-0 win.
We actually had a pattern of losing leading positions under Roy too. He tried to grind out a 1-0 but often in the last 20 mins it would turn into a 1-1 or 1-2…

It's got everything to do with lack of investment and you actually admit this in your post. You mention Munoz and Sarr plus Mateta and you are right, but the point is there is no decent stand-ins if they are no performing. "Pino and Nketiah are huge disappointments" which is down to recruitment again and if they are on a bad run of form, nobody to replace them or at least keep them on their toes. The formation is not the problem as it's proven to have worked well right up until November before his head went elsewhere.

You can't sell you best player in Eze and replace with Pino and add nobody else for a European season and expect the squad not to suffer. Going into a European season with a net spend of zero! Even the best managers in the world would struggle with their key players being out and making do with below-par replacements. He's actually done very well considering.

There's an article in the Mail about how it's strange that Palace haven't acknowledged the Glasner comments.

I must admit to feeling somewhat similar.

Perhaps something is a foot or we are just being slow off the mark.

Glasner is right to be agrieved about the lack of signings but that doesn’t deflect from the lack of mitigating tactics recently ..
He’s paid well to manage the available squad to its best ability , I’m not sure that has been achieved lately , Certainly not against Macclesfield .

Gets worse we lost to them. Yep it hasn't gone to plan this season and has unraveled fairly spectacularly this week. Guehi leaving is obviously not a surprise. Palace, like another 15 or so clubs in the PL are just feeders for the big fish. Likes of Bournemouth are testament to that. Thiago won't be at Brentford next season. Any whiff of success and they come a calling. However the Glasner announcement is a little bizarre and I'm not sure his position is tenable. It has the ManUre stench all over it.
