Glasner Out

Glad to say I missed yesterday’s embarrassing performance but disappointed with Glasner’s post match interview. As with the Leeds result, when he’s p*ssed off he blames the players. He said “no” when asked if the players underestimated their opponents but in reality he underestimated them by his team selection and his statement that formation and tactics are irrelevant when you’re playing a non league team. You just have to go out and beat them. He’s not the first premier league manager to come unstuck against non league sides in the cup. Maybe that doesn’t happen in Austria or Germany but it happens here and generally involves a weakened side underperforming against a group of fully committed prescribers who’ve been playing well in their own league.
For a coach whose strength is all about organisation and teamwork to put out a side with players who’ve never trained together is a huge error. This season is proving to be a learning experience for Glasner and hopefully he’s big enough to recognise his errors

You're not entitled to nothing, but you been fortunate enough to see us be competitive all season, against some of the best squads in the world, wanting a manager sacked because of a cup upset, after everything his given us as a club, makes you very entitled.
Thats a crass post. So you think it’s unreasonable to expect us to score the occasional goal and challenge 6th tier teams and then you make an assumption about a post when it’s clear that is not what he said.

Of course fans have entitlement, if they let us in for free to watch I’d tend to agree with you, but they don’t. Ridiculous.

I've never been offered a refund after a loss.

Remember west ham wanted moyes out, look how that worked out for them

This time last year at this stage, you're offered, FA cup win, community shield win, through to the next round of a European cup, 5 points from 5th which will likely be a champions league spot, 14 points from 18th. Everyone would have demanded a statue of Glasner.

The entitlement of some fans is beyond belief.

I for one do not feel any sense of entitlement. I’ve been waiting since the seventies for us to win something and nothing…NOTHING will take that day away from us all.

As I said yesterday Ollie has credit in the bank with us the fans, however since December he is burning that budget fast. He has been coming across arrogant in interviews when last year he was entirely humble. he has taken no responsibility for any of the miserable results we have had. Yes there are circumstances but f*** me 2 points out of 18 is terrible and an elite manager would have gotten more out of the players available. He has flatly refused to alter his system even when we just don’t have the players for it.

in summary, I don’t think anyone wants him gone but we should be doing better. we should have pushed on having broken our invisible ceiling by actually winning something and most of all he is f***ing us about with his contract bollocks. I have no problem if he wants to go… but just go. It’s boring and destabilising to hang it out. Clearly not good for the team.

Why should we be doing better ? Give any manager our current squad and they would struggle, did you see the bench against villa ?

How has he been f***ing us about ? His always said that he would sit down and discuss his future in january, even if he doesn't sign, that gives us 6 months to find a replacement.

We should be doing better because every man and his dog knew exactly how we were going to play and we haven't the players available to do so, FFS that line up, tactics and result, is worth a sacking on its own, you have to be moronic to play that way against a battling lower league team, or the arrogance and ego the size of his bank balance.

I get the feeling you would argue with yourself in the mirror my friend.

If you can’t see that the problems we currently have are an issue then I would very much like a draw on what your smoking or a nip of what your drinking please.

What would you like him to do, miraculously rub his hands together and heal, kamada, nketiah, Richards and munoz, then magically get Sarr back aswell. Its quite obvious what our problem is, our squad isnt good enough. We had a poor summer window, extra games in Europe and injuries.

So how would you have us play ? Cause if you think chucking loads of youngsters in, who get smashed every other week in the national league cup against league 1 and 2 teams is gonna be an improvement. I can guarantee you, it wont.

Gone from the best year in the club's history to the worst and it's only January! Lessons to learn: Never underestimate your opponent. Start with your strongest side. Move for targets early in the window and support your manager. If a player wants to leave our club stick them in the reserves til then, no matter how good they are. Don't shove a left sided CB on the right. Have a plan B and even C for when your style has been found out. Not felt this bad about a Palace result in over 50 years.

Or alternatively maybe he could tweak tactics to accommodate the fact that it might not be the best idea to play a system dependant on wing backs when you have no available right sided wing backs. Just a thought.

The worst year in the clubs history . Really? Because of 1 result.
We have gone out the Fa Cup as we have every single year except 1.
The team/way we went out wasn’t the best, but we move on to sunderland away.

That would be amazing. Nice one

So what formation and players do you think he should have played ?
I think he should have been playing a back four with 3 midfielders and a front 3. So a 4-3-3. When the system is so dependant on wing backs for width and to make numbers in midfield the whole thing breaks down without a right wing back. However, I am not paid millions of pounds to find the answer. OG is.

I agree with you that we should have brought in more players to suit the system but we didn’t. OG’s job is then to adapt when players go out and in that respect he’s been lacking.

Oh and by the way Clyne and Mitchell have shown previously they work well in a back four. For midfield a midfield of Hughes, Wharton and Lerma could work.

And sorry for replying to myself I am fully aware that Clyne wasn’t available yesterday so talking about most of the games since Munoz went out

I think Clyne won't available until after Sunderland so it may well be that Devenny will be used as RWB.
He's a hard worker and willing runner, but it clearly isn't his position.
Yesterday he was the out ball for much of the first half down the right in Glasner's system, but we failed to build moves down that side.
A number of posters have mentioned that Pino played right wing/right side midfield in Spain.
I wonder if he could do an interim job at RWB as an alternative.
He would certainly be in more space ( like Munoz) without the constant duels that he currently encounters and often loses in the left inside forward role.
He's diligent enough to keep the shape when defending and as a right footed player he's more natural for the role than alternatives Devenny and Sosa who use their right foot mainly for standing on.
I don't think it's that much of an 'off the wall' suggestion but I await pelters!.

Henderson
Canvot Richards Guehi Mitchell
Pino Hughes Wharton Devenny
Uche Johnson

Would have won the game, no question.
