Glasner Out

We can debate whether Parish is at fault for lack of signings and selling players or Glasner is at fault for not giving certain players a chance but we can all agree that Glasner’s behaviour the other day was not normal. There’s definitely a pattern to his behaviour when he is upset after losing a match. His rant’s demonstrate a loss of control over his emotions.
As someone who worked in brain rehabilitation and regularly dealt with patients who had suffered significant brain injuries it’s a behaviour I’ve seen many times before. Perhaps I’m wide of the mark and he’s just an arrogant pr*ck like Lanzo says, but I do find myself wondering if his extreme behaviour is a consequence of the serious brain injury he sustained which ended his playing career. It’s been a recurring theme throughout his managerial career. It’s fairly typical of patients who have sustained head injuries. We all are capable of extreme or inappropriate behaviour when upset but our frontal lobes kick in and prevent us from saying and doing things we might later regret. Brain injuries of the sort he sustained impact the frontal lobes more than anything and impair our ability to apply the brakes. The impact can be lifelong and significantly harm relationships at home and at work.
If my suspicion is correct then Glasner will be aware that he has this tendency and may even have discussed it with Parish who is a decent guy and will cut him some slack as he seems to have done. He’s lucky to have an understanding boss. Sadly that won’t always happen.
Yes, I'd thought it could be a factor myself. Not a symptom you'd want to discuss publicly for obvious reasons.
He does seem to appear a little bipolar.

The unstoppable force meets the immoveable object

Alien v Predator

I just think it's a conflict with Glasner wanting things his way, and the Boards' stoic business plan.
They're both right in wanting the best for the club, just differing ways /objectives.

The Board have a plan that keeps the club afloat and generates some income. Staying in the Premiership is the underpinning priority. Along with other financial considerations.
Glasner wants to go for Glory.
Both stances are applaudable, and lead to friction in a lot of clubs where the manager is ambitious.

I need to get out more. This thread destroyed my weekend, and I have stuff to do,

Sky sports has been fun they slated Glasner this morning not one good word , and called him a spoilt prat 🤣 also said Parish is playing a very smart game

May come as a surprise to some on here, but Simon Jordan has come out more in favour of Parish than Glasner (mind you, he acknowledges it pains him to do so)!
He thinks there's the possibility of it putting off some owners at big clubs who are under much greater scrutiny than Palace.
Jordan still couldn't resist one little gibe at Parish, revealing that Textor had been in touch with him over the weekend criticising Parish for 'lack of ambition.'

I think they paint the narrative they want to - irate fans losing their sh1t makes for much better content, views, clicks etc. Refreshingly on TalkSport they haven't just given airtime to the over emotional fans calling for his head. Rathermore there have been some balanced views from both sides, much like on here.

No surprise both members of the club owners trade union and Glasner is a jumped up manager in a long line of jumped up managers.

Of course that's possible but players get injured in the warm up too. Managers are paid to work around these problems or at least have some sort contingency plans in place.
Yes, if Guehi was going he isn't going to risk an injury by playing him.

Interesting point. I have a friend who had a massive brain injury and he's never been the same. Can be incredibly angry sometimes. Would never have thought about it with Glasner. Does put a different angle on it.
I know i am opening myself up for ridicule here, but in 2018 i caught Bacterial Meningitis and was in a coma for 12 days, my wife fought for me, and i woke up, i have lesions on the brain and i have to take a lot of medication, i cannot spell at all, thank good for spell checker, i never drank for 6 years, now i have the odd beer or glass of wine, but the medication i will take forever, and you have periods of rage and then almost completely relaxed, it goes with the damage to the brain, but when you support Palace every game is a trial.

Wow sorry to hear that buddy , sounds like you nearly didnt make it ! I'd have to give up Palace it does my head in most of the time , never a dull moment and just when you think everything is going fine the poop hits the fan in some way or another . By the way do you remember that 500 euro i gave you the loan of in 2017 .

No ridicule from me Lanzo but it does shed a different light on some of your more entertaining posts and maybe affords you a greater degree of understanding of Glasner’s rants. That being said I don’t think we can blame Glasner’s obsession with 3 at the back on his brain injury so feel free to continue criticising him.

Oliver Sacks might follow up his book The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat with The Man who Mistook Devenny for a Wing Back. Or The Man who Mistook Palace for PSG.

I don’t know. I think it was calculated. He said the same thing in different interviews yesterday. It wasn’t just a spur of the moment emotional reaction.
It was, of course it was. He obviously would look stupid if he backtracked in later interviews. He had no choice but to double down on what he'd already said

If we take him at his word, he had no idea it was happening until 10am the same day.

If you are involved in the negotiations, how can that be possible?

Yes, most premier league clubs usually they do involve the manager in the negotiation, even to this day. It’s not so long ago the manager used to facilitate the entire negotiation on his own.
Because he is involved in incoming transfers not outgoing ones?

I suppose an option was to say that he had nothing further to add and his focus is preparing the team for the game on Sunday !!
There are those with whom I have been in conversation with an hour ago who do not believe that Glasner will be in situ until the end of the season.

Not good.
I looked at a poll of Palace fans with 80% wanting him gone now.
He's about as popular as Starmer.
How many fans were polled? Often they can be very misleading as those that vote are usually only the angry ones that want him gone whereas those that are happy for him to carry on cant be bothered with it.

I am contemplating how supporters might express their opinions.
A cacophany of boos when he exits the tunnel ? Anti-Glasner chants ?
Its not helpful is it? The players aren't deaf. They need support and positivity if we're going to turn things around.
Boo him at the end, Before and during the game lets get behind them!
