Glasner is a Glazier ?

I have been a Palace supporter for 70 years and in that time there have been the usual ups and downs that all clubs and their supporters experience. But I think the club is in danger of sleep walking into a mess. IMHO we have had the amazing good fortune to get the best manager we have ever had. He has level of vision, ambition and talent that I have not seen in all those years. But the down side is that we have a chairman who seems to be taking this all for granted and who, if he is not careful, will drive a frustrated OG away. Yes, SP was a former player and knew the game but that was then. It does not mean he is qualified to to make or interfere in managerial judgements. Look at the number of former players from all divisions who have found themselves out of their depth and learnt some costly lessons.
So my plea to SP is, STICK TO BEING A CHAIRMAN, GET YOUR WALLET OUT AND LET OG DO HIS JOB. You will be making the lives of the supporters a bit more bearable.
OG as a manger has only ever stayed at a club for 2 years. This will not change with Palace, OG will have his eye on the next big project, which I'm sure will be a step up from us.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty certain he'll be gone at the end of the season.

I just hope they are looking into a replacement that is a passionate and technical as OG is.

As for SP, I've not seen him put a foot wrong in 15 years. When everyone was kicking off about a lack of direction 18 months ago, SP had already secured OG as a manager for the next season. Because Roy turned out to be rubbish (who knew!!) OG came in sooner.

I'm sorry but Mr Hodgson was not rubbish in my opinion.

He took on the job, knowing that he had little to work with and would have precious little budget but took the job on where others like Pullis and big Sam ran off. He kept us up under those conditions and was invaluable.

Rubbish? Nah.

I think that's an unwarranted slur.

Roys age really caught up with him. Similar age to me and no way could I have taken that pressure !

Maybe rubbish was a little unwarranted, he did keep us in the prem for a few good seasons, but in his last short stint he took over a talented group of players and had a reasonable run to the end of the season playing in the style of Vieira, then reverted to "Hodgson Ball" and nearly got us relegated.

However, as I said SP had a long term plan in place, which was to bring in OG at the end of the season, but had to rush it through due to Roy's rigid way of playing and inability to turn around a side that had previously played well.

You only have to listen to a post match interview with Glasner, where he speaks coherently for 5 minutes about tactics and attitude in a way that Roy would never understand. Which just shows how far we have come in just 18 months.

I hope he has a similar plan for when Glasner leaves us.

Mmm...Never understand is not the same as talking differently. To say that a man of Mr Hodgson's experience wouldn't understand is just not true. Of course he'd understand; he'd been in football all over the world, indifferent leagues for decades.

I agree that OG is something special but I wouldn't be denigrating Hodgson because of that. No way. Sorry.

Couldn't agree more. Some folks just don't realise how much Hodgson steadied a sinking ship that was doomed for relegation. The football may not have been the prettiest but the club owes him a huge debt of gratitude. Perhaps age caught up with him in the end and made him more stubborn but 'rubbish' he certainly was not, nor was he ever.

He built the foundation for the success we enjoyed last season and any we'll experience in the near future too. The football may have been 'rubbish' at times but it was also necessary, at least most of the time.

I think Manure are a good example of where this goes wrong. They're constantly hiring someone to polish their turd and are dismayed when it turns out to still look and stink... like a turd.

Hodgson gave us something to work with, bringing stability. Delivered his mandate at the very least, the VERY LEAST.

I'm glad we've moved on from him, wasn't the most enjoyable of times, but to not show gratitude for what he did here is insane.

I just saw an article on Newsnow saying that the bookies have Glasner favorite to take over as United Manager when haemorrhoid gets sacked .

Amorin has shown that the United players either can't play or don't want to play 3-4-2-1. Either way would their hierarchy risk employing another proponent wedded to that system?
certainly a logical argument, but on the other hand I would imagine a manager that has taken unfashionable CPFC to 2 pieces of major silverware in just the last couple months could easily be offered a completely free hand to sort out the playing staff at a club like Utd in whatever manner he wants.

Glasner and Amorin play the same system, which is perfect for counter attack football, doesn't work against teams that defend deep, if you are a manager of a club, and fans that demand trophy's you will be playing a lot of defensive teams, that is why Manure were unlucky not to beat Arsenal, then lose to Grimsby, the system works better for us because 90% of our games are not against defensive teams, and the 10% that are we struggle against, we were poor in the Conference games, but i would not be at all surprised if we beat Villa 1/2-0, i think Glasner knows the higher you go the harder it is at "bigger" clubs, Palace is a perfect fit for Glasner, and i think he knows it, and will extend his contract

There will be moves before long but hopefully Glasner isn’t one of them. United seem determined to stick with Amorin this time. I saw a rumour suggesting Marinakis would like Rodgers if Nuno and he don’t kiss and make up. Potter’s taxi must be first on the rank.

We’re a good fit for Glasner. He loves coaching players who he can improve individually. Not sure how he’d cope with the Billy Big Balls types at the top 6.
