Gallagher

Strange isn't it? Maybe an example of you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.
Ayew scored at the weekend and we could do with his willing play at the moment. He wasn't the best but he tried hard and did score now and again.
Ayew's impact and scoring record for Leicester has been similar to that whilst at Palace - 5 goals last season from 30 appearances and 5 this season (in the Championship).

He is used more as a striker at Leicester although not always a regular starter.

He is also now 2 years older and at 34 his best days are surely past him.

I think we can do better although i accept his versatility across all 3 front positions has been missed

Yes, we can do better now but what I meant was that he was someone who wasn't always appreciated while he was at Palace and we need that type of player in the squad.

I'm not ! i prefer Wharton and Hughes in midfield .
I like them too, but I feel like we are missing something without Kamada. He was hugely improved this season, and we were winning games.

It will be interesting to see how we perform in his absence when Munoz and Sarr return.

I'm just not sure about a Gallagher return. I was never really impressed with him outside of his stint with us (which was by far and away his best period). never really thought he did enough at Chelsea, and I can't say I've followed his career in Spain, but cant be going great if we're talking about a return.

Much debate about whether he'll work in OG's system. His most obvious position will be a Hughes/Kamada role, but that won't play to his attacking strengths. I see him occupying those area's Eze used to - generally ending up in, or shooting from, the 'D' on the 18yd box. So that would put him on the left of the top three, with license to roam centrally.

In an Attacking phase, him and Wharton alongside each other could be excellent. but I suspect they'd be caught too far up the pitch too much.

Going by Fabrizio Romano's latest tweet we wont have to worry about Glasners system for much longer , i cant see Gallagher move happening though 25 million was quoted yesterday . i would love to see it happen and his game has changed alot since he was with us on loan, he needs regular football if he is to make it to the world cup squad and is mainly used as a substitute for Atletico and has only started 2 games so far this season . Real Madrid tipped to complete double Crystal Palace transfer swoop in major Eagles blow: report

I don’t think it’s a case of ‘you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone’, more a case of when players are injured , people remember them through rose tinted glasses.
If Pino was out for a month and the 2 number 10s weren’t performing, people would say we miss Pino.
I heard someone yesterday saying it’s a shame nketiah is missing as he would have made a difference , when he rarely has in the past.

100%

Love his as I do, Hughes is pretty limited technically. Some will never really get or understand Kamada, but like it of not we've felt pretty disjointed ever since he's been out.

Perhaps he is the new Jason Puncheon. Loathed or despised by the fans is relatively equal measure. But subtract him and the team suffered.

A scientific anomaly

By the argument here then, when Parish says we won't sign Gallagher because we have Lerma, Kamada and Hughes, that will be fine. Despite each player's limited ability, their age is suggesting we need someone. Not suggesting as much as screaming out for needing someone. None are that reliable fitness wise either. How many more midfield injuries until we're using the youth? I make it one.
