Freedman

Freedman's main crime to those denigrating him seems to be that he's leaving the club.
It's brought about a reinvention of history with some seemingly willing to erase or minimise his contribution to the club.
I listen to a podcast involving a former coach at the club - who had his own run ins with Freedman - and yet he still acknowledges Freedman's brilliant eye for a player and his ability to sell the club to prospective purchases.
We have a playing squad now far in excess of the value the value when originally put together.
It's obviously not solely down to Freedman, but he has had a significant role as DOF .
Before his departure was announced I didn't see too many on here saying 'he'd be no loss' or 'what does he do anyway?'
Many seemed delighted that he had supposedly turned down overtures from Man United and Newcastle.
I think that those “ denigrating “ Dougie see his departure as some sort of betrayal rather than what it actually is. Which is a football professional deciding to make a career move which in this case would almost certainly set him up for life financially.

His has been a major contribution to where the club is today. The fact that Parish welcomed Dougie back to the club when he did speaks for itself.

I wish he was staying but I wish him every success in his new venture.

It was a fine day yesterday and so I took a long walk along the beach. In the distance I could see a man walking a dog. He seemed to be in animated conversation and as he didn't appear to be holding a mobile device I speculated that he was either talking to himself, the dog, or the gods. Every now and then the sea breeze would carry his words in my direction - "my pet signing" "never played" "took me years to sign him" "not happy" "I'm off!"
All very mysterious, granted.

did the words 'Erdal Rakip' echo through this marine zephyr and swirl around you like the ghost of Christmas Past?

Who is paying 25 million for a soon to be 29 year old Daniel Munoz?
City. They'd pay that without question. Probably more. But...I dont see Palace selling unless 1. we have identified a decent replacement and 2. it would only happen if there are not too many other departures in the summer.

I am not convinced that Man C with an ageing squad would pay £25 Mill for Munez who is approaching 29 in a couple of months.

If he went an upper mid table team is much more likely. Munoz has been fantastic for us and his energy is a big factor in making OG’s system work. He’s also been a bargain. However, he is also not the world’s most refined player and sometimes his technical ability lets him down a bit. That technical side would be very important to the big teams I would imagine.

Agree.

He's brilliant for us, but the amount of times I've muttered 'If he could only cross'

V simular to Sarr, so often from good positions the cross sales over the back of the box.

I agree on the £25m being about the right level of clause. He's almost 29 and athleticism is his biggest strength. You want Munoz as a counter attaching team. When you sit on 70% possession and are camped in the oppos half, you need more technical ability.

Whoever we get in, I hope they do a bit better with these release clauses. We were robbed for Olise and Munoz for 25m would be extremely annoying as he's perfect for us.

Maybe it's the only way we can get these guys to join us over bigger clubs I guess.

Thats the way football is going, players agents are getting more savvy with sell ons. A £17m profit of Munoz would be good business for a 29 year old.
We weren't robbed, if we didn't agree, they would of gone elsewhere, its business.

Yes in the case of Olise it was the best value for us and the player. We got another season out of Olise and a guaranteed £50m (or thereabouts). He got to increase his wages and progress his career. The alternative was losing him for less or letting him run his contract down.

In the case of Munoz £25m is fair for a player in his late 20s we purchased for £8m and with no experience in a top European league. If he goes we will have had a brilliant 18months from him and made over £10m in profit. How many right backs go for £25m? Not many so it would be good business

I heard Dougie was off to Hungary and Poland. Apparently scouting for Eastern European builders who can do a good job on the new Main stand.
