Farewell Eze?

I wish him well, but really do not want Arsenal to win anything the way they currently play. Goals from corners which almost always involve pushing and holding (I guess that is why they bought Rob in the first place) or penalties from diving. It was sad to see a 15 year old kid playing for a penalty and shocking that VAR did not see that he made all the contact and should have been booked, as should Califiori for trying the same trick in the first half. I'd be inclined to make an obvious dive in the penalty area a red card as the risk to reward is so much greater if you get a penalty rather than a frr=kick 100yard from the oppositions goal
Bit off kilter but doku never goes over. Yesterday he stayed up and crossed when he could have grounded for a pen. It must just be in some players to cheat !

Not the wisest statement Arteta has ever come out with.

Indeed. I cant work out if it was intentional or not. e.g. just another dig a Spurs.

Maybe its the pain speaking, but I just dont think he's going to do well there. (But knew Olise was going to shine).

Firstly, do they want him? They had all summer. Or could have reacted to Suprs' interest......Surely it shouldn't need the player to call the manager? If it happened how it has been reported thats pretty beggy, and doesn't shout that want you. To be it shouts that they can pick up excellent depth on decent terms.

Secondly, he'll be up against seasoned performers in Trossard, Martinelli and the new boy Madueke who will have something to prove, plus Nwaneri and Dowman. We would leave him on for the full 90 even if he was pretty quiet. With their depth he'll be hauled off a lot more.

Thriving at a club like Palace must be significantly easier, knowing you are going to start every week and likely get the full 90.

But who knows.

And not get hooked when you’re having an off day or taking it easy which he was known to do from time to time. Could work either way for him at Arses. He’ll become a £100 million pound player whose always on his game or he’ll spend more time on the bench.

I had a chat with a all too excitable Arsenal fan last week, and rather than goading me about the loss of Eze, he was bemoaning the vast amount they've spent in this window. I said that they will soon find out about Eze, can be brilliant one game, but anonymous for the next three. I told him that imho all their recent spending spree is desperation, as they've come close on a number of occasions but always fall at the last hurdle. "Bottlers" was the term agreed on. He had nothing good to say about Arteta, and I agree, he is a poor man's Guardiola or Enrique. I thanked him for the money, as it means if we spend wisely we can pick up a couple of decent players that fit straight in.

He'll need to improve his defensive approach. It's not sour grapes, even though I hate him going, but more of a reflection of the way he was regarded at Palace that we could gloss over his ineffectual tackling but Arsenal have several stars and both management and fans expect more from them than flashes of brilliance especially if they're already 3 up at the time.

This phone call claim doesn’t really help Eze. I expect he will take his family with him from Warlingham to North London. He likes to go out shopping and stuff so winding up the louder rivals that he not only chose Arsenal over Spurs but ALSO phoned Arteta up doesn’t do him a lot of favours in the afternoons, Sunday to Friday. I regard Arteta as a bit of a t1t personally so it’s not a surprise.

I have doubts that he phoned Arteta. Arteta and Arsenal would have known Spurs were trying to buy Eze. It was hardly a secret. If Arteta was interested surely he would have made contact with Eze’s agent? That does happen.

I also have doubts he will be successful at Arsenal. Nothing to do with any possible phone calls or sour grapes. He just might not fit into the formation and style of play, plus the competition mentioned and his inconsistency, which was mentioned for why he’d maybe suit Tottenham. They’re obviously inconsistent.

I don't think that it was that Arsenal didn't know, it's that he wanted to join Arsenal and not Spurs.

I couldn't imagine running out in a weed kit and scoring some crucial goal for the weeds, then going up to celebrate with their pathetic JCL fans - it would turn my stomach.

I think some geezer on here said he would be in the top 5 players in the world by 27, Idiot, he looks like being a year out,

I completely get it on his side. Last big career move, might as well just make 1 call to see if there is any chance.

But from Arsenals side, they are acting like the Messiah has come home......but they were very happy to let him join Spurs.

I'm sticking with the fact, that they didn't really want/need him. But an extra bit of quality in a long season, a kid who is desperate to join, and the chance to stick it to Spurs was too good to turn down.

He's not there yet. Let's see what season he has for Arsenal.
He will be, watch him go, as i said most gifted English player since Gazza, Fodan, Grealish not fit to lace his drinks 😳

IMO, He has become Arsenals best player, even Saka said when on England duty he was different class

Best player 1 game in 3 though.....

My worry for him is he usually produces 1 or 2 moments of magic a game. More on a good day.

They have so much depth that if he's done very little by 70mins, surely they are going to give Martinelli, Trossard or Madueke a go.

Maybe with more of the ball, and more pressure he'll rise to the occasion. Either way I'll be watching on.

They've also got a 15 year old who's already learned how to find a foot to trip over in the area.

I suspect they’re already working on that with Eze. Probably telling the rest of the team that there’s no need to wait till you’re in the box before diving. Go down 20 yards out left of centre and let Eze do the rest.

They'll be falling like leaves in autumn with drifts of them lying around the pitch.
