Farewell Eze?

It was expected, and I'm happy he's got his dream move to Arsenal as opposed to settling for Spurs - but I'm just feeling so deflated by this all.

We had the best summer with the two trophies, real fairy tail stuff and we are f*cking this, the Europa thing was our fault, the lack of signings, getting rid of our best players, f***.

We should be going into this season a high and just enjoying the ride, but all the good feeling has gone.

I'll always be happy and grateful for this summer and the wins, but right now, it's just not there because of mismanagement

We wouldn't be human or at least football fans or at least Palace fans if we didn't feel a bit of regret as Ebs goes.

But every human deserves the chance to fulfill their ambitions (preferably not at the expense of their friends and family...or by invading Poland) and nothing Ebs has done runs counter to this. Palace is a football club and like all clubs at any level is more important than the players. Players play for just a few short years and at my age, 61, it seems to me that their times of greatness are so fleeting that how can we possibly begrudge that a player move on to a bigger club? Yes it is annoying that Arsenal are bigger than us but it's a fact (for now, watch out Gooners, south London is on the rise).

Let's not be the jilted lover here or the doom-mongers of the future ("how can we now possibly exist without Wright/Zaha/Olise/Ebs/the next guy") and so on. We have come so far since 2010 and have probably the best board in the land with an ambition to match our pockets and some. We know the squad is thin but we will hopefully get some important players in the next week. If not we might suffer a slight set back but I for one have had total confidence in Parish et al navigating the complex seas of football since 2010 and have no reason to stop now.

Ebs gave me one of the best moments of my life when he scored that goal and helped us to The Cup. I never thought we'd win anything. Who knows what else we could now do?

Be proud that we have had him in our tenure for 5 years, helped him as he has helped us, and let's watch him help England lift the World Cup as I can't see anyone else in that lot with anything like the spark he has had for us.

Good luck Ebs and may your God be with you!

Dave Allen?

Absolutely gutted today. I don’t even know what to say.

He wasn’t just another player for us – he was the heartbeat of Palace, the lad who could make you get off your seat with a flick, a shimmy, or that trademark curling finish. He gave us moments we’ll never forget, carried us when games looked gone, and brought pure joy to Selhurst every time he stepped on the pitch.

Of course he was always going to end up back in North London one day – he’s too good not to – but it still hurts. You don’t replace players like Eze. You just hold onto the memories and be grateful we got to watch him in red and blue.

Good luck to him (apart from when he plays us). He leaves a Palace legend in my eyes, and I hope he tears it up on the biggest stage.

Thanks for everything, Ebs. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. ❤️💙🦅

I wish ebs well. Hope he won’t be a benchwarmer at the arsenal. He was very inconsistent but exhilarating on his best days. Let’s hope we spend that cash well and get at least 2 excellent prospects/replacements to continue our flirting with the rich b$€¥{}Arv’s clubs for honours. COYP 🥳

Hi all. As a very long time forum lurker, I have joined today. Eze has been a big part of magnificent club achievements. I don't blame him going to Arsenal one bit. The club have cash in the bank, and Eze has his chance to shine on the biggest stages of football. COYP

Don't worry, we've built a new stand.....

Some lovely comments from Ebs on BBC Sport - speaking about being part of the Palace family. He was a great asset to Palace and we wish him well - except when we are playing the gooners of course - he won’t be kissinng the badge!

I hope it won’t be too long before we sign a player whose boyhood dream was playing for Palace at Selhurst. That’s surely the ambition for us as a club!
