Farage faces standards probe into £5m gift

Well, 'right thing' is a moot point.

As a traitor, he should have hanged but had he been brought to justice, it would have completely undermined the standing of the royal family when the emphasis had to be being seen as 'united'.

You speak far too confidently.

Edward denied what you say, he said these claims were distortions.

What you are relying upon was second and third hand information. There was never any correspondence or anything from Edward himself for evidence.

You don't hang Monarchy on hearsay lad.

I think all of them are anti Tommy Robinson....Yeah so so right wing.....They are Tory I'll give you that....but the Tories are neo and social liberals, not actual right wing.

Regardless, now do right wing TV media.

Broadcast media being watched by far far more people than buy newspapers.

Except for GB News, which is constantly under attack from the communists at Ofcom, it's the only right wing outlet that otherwise is exclusively liberal......Nothing supporting right wing values on any of them.....Plenty supporting socially liberal values.

You are incredibly biased, yet spend your time complaining about bias in others.

Buy a mirror.
I give you due credit. If ever I want a good laugh I only need to read one or two of your posts.

What evidence, other than your very obvious bias and prejudice, do you have that Ofcom is run by communists? Only a moment’s thought suggests this assertion to be extremely unlikely.

Maybe you need reminding who communists really are. Which isn’t people who simply hold liberal values. From Google:-

“Calling someone a communist generally means accusing them of supporting a political and economic ideology that advocates for common ownership of the means of production, the elimination of private property, and a classless, state-free society. It is frequently used in political discourse to criticize left-wing views, implying they are subversive, anti-capitalist, or authoritarian.”

You routinely complain of bias but are the most outrageously biased poster on the site. There’s loads of competition too!

I refer you Mandy Rice-Davies.

I refer you Mandy Rice-Davies.

I refer you to the fact that you want to hang people on hearsay and second hand evidence. Why do you treat an accusation higher than a denial? What is required is supporting evidence for what exactly is being claimed.

You aren't sensible.

When you get into a situation where people want to strip you of everything because of what someone else said, maybe you will understand.

Innocent people's lives have been destroyed because of this kind of thing.

Convictions have to be beyond a reasonable doubt.

What would facilitate this would be full access to Royal Archives which has ben denied....Hmmmm.

And doubtless you have had a look at the Marburg files.

If the Royals were subpoenaed to produce the Royal Archives in full, we'd be a lot better informed. Fat chance. Why hide them? ....Hmmm

Again, the Marburg files are second and third hand.....You think he should have apparently have been hung over that. Whereas as me, the 'far right' guy doesn't even think Haw Haw should have been hung.

It was the time and everyone was doing it not just us......I believe in capital punishment but only reserved for certain crimes and level of evidence of them....ie no doubt, which goes beyond reasonable.

As for the Royal Archives, that is their's, it's not yours or our property.

You do realise that you are talking about a real family here don't you? Monarchy isn't something you can just bully without consequence. They own a huge amount of property that the government itself rents from it. The whole system is based upon an intertwining of Monarchy and government.

And I say that as a big critic of this Monarchy.....But twerp that Charles is he did an amazing job with Trump and the soft power of our Monarchy is a significant plus to this country as well as an intrinsic part of its history.

Perhaps you should ask yourself why you don't value that....I have my own suspicions. Perhaps, according to your logic, I should get power to decide what happens to you based upon my suspicions....because that's what you are moving towards......Salem Witch trials type of justice.

As I said, the correct decision was reached over Edward.

The idea that Farage gets a hard time from the media is the most laughable, demonstrable bullshit I've seen argued on here for a long time.

He gets an absolute walk, over and over and over again - he's had multiple scandals that would be the end of any 'normal' politician.

We're at a point where our media will run a whole campaign on the leader of the Greens being antisemitic, based on him criticising Israel, and despite him being Jewish himself.

Farage on the other hand can face multiple, credible allegations of actual antisemitism, including hissing and chanting at Jewish classmates, and the media barely touch it.

It doesn't matter what they find on Farage.

It doesn't matter what they find on Polanski.

Not unless it's sexual and relates to children.....that's a line at which it breaks, if people think there's something to it. It's why Epstein has been so damaging to Trump, not that many think he's interested in children but that he's perceived as protecting the implicated....which is a fair enough accusation in my book.

But in reality no supporter of Farage or Polanski is going to abandon them because it means they have no one else who can beat their enemies.

That's the basic equation.

Who really gives a feck what Farage does with five million quid or whether Polanski was a con artist before he was a politician.

I think once you have been convinced that you shouldn't care about the likely next Prime Minister receiving 'unconditional gifts' from foreign-based billionaires, you can be convinced of any corruption.

He's not wrong on his point though.

Unless the main media pick up and run with any point it will soon be chip wrap.

People will still vote Reform where their primary concern is immigration.

People will still vote Green where their primary concerns are the environment and rejoining.

I've said this before the rules around gifts are deliberately complicated and opaque so that MPS don't get caught. Apparently Starmer did nothing wrong accepting expensive gifts from his close rich friend. Does anyone think that is morally right?

Farage will probably get away with it and the grumbles are from MPs who would happily do the same given half a chance.

What we need are clear and simple rules but that won't happen as they love a bit of wiggle room.

Let’s not conflate things like Coldplay tickets with £5m in cash.

What we need is an electorate and media who hold people to account when they accept massive bribes.

It’s chicken and egg - he’s not wrong because we’ve allowed ourselves to be slowly convinced that this stuff doesn’t matter or shouldn’t move the dial on our vote, when it absolutely should.

I also think that argument is effectively underpinned by a suggestion that media coverage and reporting don’t influence people’s votes - that feels a very flimsy basis for an argument.

When investigating criminal cases, the authorities (not you or I but on our behalf) have the power to confiscate and address written evidence material to the outcome of the case. Is that not so?

police probe Reform councillor's election papers

olice are investigating a newly-elected Reform UK councillor's nomination papers over alleged false statements.

Ryan Coogan, the new leader of the Reform group at Huntingdonshire District Council, was elected to represent the Ramsey ward after the local elections on 7 May.

He had been the party's candidate in the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough mayoral election in 2025, finishing second behind the Conservatives' Paul Bristow.

When contacted by the BBC, Coogan said: "It would appear you know a lot more than I do." Reform has been contacted for comment. The council said it was "aware of a police referral".
Cambridgeshire Police said in a statement: "We are investigating an allegation of false statements on a candidate nomination paper and the investigation is ongoing."

The force confirmed the investigation related to Coogan and the recent elections, but it has not confirmed the nature of the alleged false statements.

Coogan told the BBC: "As soon as I have any info myself with regards to the detail in your email, I will be sure to let you know."

Reform won its first councillors on the authority in this month's elections, becoming the third-largest party, with 10 of the 52 seats.

The Liberal Democrats are the largest party on 20, followed by the Conservatives, but no party has a majority and no formal announcements about any coalitions have been made.

The council's annual meeting will take place on Thursday evening.

A council spokesperson said: "We are aware of a police referral in relation to the recent district council elections.

"As this matter is a live investigation, it would not be appropriate for the council or the returning officer to comment further at this stage."

The 4th estate will have influence if it picks it up and runs with it.

Otherwise, it will not.

Mandelson might be one the press will not let go of right up to the next GE as it has links with salacious crime.

Farage's £5m trousering from Crypto to argue for Crypto..? No glamour, no sleaze, no story, no influence.

'Outdated' attitudes?

Who is deciding what attitude is outdated and attitude is modern what attitude is ridiculous?

And why should I give a feck?

Shakespeare is an English writer and it's the English curriculum and he informs much of the language and its origins. The quality of writer matters.
Stirling, the post was ironic - sorry to get you so riled up 🤣🤣
