Fan Protest before the Hull Match?

How much is a New York Jets season tickets / game day tickets?

Would they be similar prices to palace? If the club raised their matchday ticket prices / season tickets but allowed you to share a ticket with someone who doesn't have a membership would this be okay?
Season tickets for the Jets are normally in the range from $2,000 to $4,500 for a pair of standard seats. Individual games then go from $90 (which you can get on resale for cheaper if the team they are playing also sucks) up to over $1,200 for the best seats. But their stadium is also huge as well (as many people saw during the World Cup) so your experience can go from nose bleeds to on top of the players on the field in certain stadiums.

They also don’t have to be a member (it is called a Personal Seat License (PSL) in the US) to get tickets, the only thing they get with the PSL is a “nicer” seat option.

They can sell the tickets to anyone, no restrictions at all. It is very common for those tickets to be sold to the opposing teams fans if your team is having trash year or the other team travels well.

There is a need, to drive revenues to do a bit of Americanisation.

Some of it is completely fine IMO, fire things, lazers, pre match. T shirt cannons, eagles etc.

I also like the pregame montages etc. Especially in European evening games where all the digitals screens are green, now orange.

I also love a bit of Zombie nation pre walk out.

I would however like the singing to then take over and take us to kick off.

Yeah I recognise this too. Where the line sits is subjective but I certainly feel as though it's been crossed for me.

Primarily, we are 'Crystal Palace Football Club' and not 'The (non-musical) Eagles'.

We are a football club with a history of representing a geographical location and therefore a community.

We're a sports team to be supported by the community, not a commercial asset to be whored out. The more whoring of the club, the less it serves the primary purpose.

I'd rather see ours or any other club exist to serve the joy of football for the people associated to it, not merely as an entertainment source for the highest bidder.

For those in doubt - the protest is not about anything mentioned in this thread yet.

The protest is based solely around the American-isation of the match day experience. Crystal Palace FC is a family and community club, yet the fans organising the protest (mainly HF) believe that the club is selling out to "tourists".

That isn't around match ticket resale. I've listed the reasons below,

- Matchday tickets being up to £70, effectively pricing out the average South Londoner who would like to attend the game.

- Music just before kick off, halt-time and just after the final whistle. This removes any crowd noise and drowns out any atmosphere being built within the stadium.

- Light shows and flame throwers prior to kick off - again similar reasons to above with regards to an organically built atmosphere.

- Club funded flags and flag bearers - the HF (and other fans alike) believe that this should all be crowd funded and run by the fans of the club. Not the club itself. This point has been repeatedly raised online and directed at the club.

All in all - the protest is based around the loss of the HF and the reasons behind why they have disbanded. If this protest is successful, I would anticipate it being the first step towards the HF's return.

Personally, I am all for it. CPFC is about South London character and it would be nice to keep that and pass it onto my kids. Not just another Premier League club.
I agree with all of this. I especially hate the generic loud music and brain-dead light shows and so on.

That said...

1. I don't care if the HF come back or not, and don't want this to be yet another attempt by them to make some sort of power-play, hold the club over a barrel, or seek attention.

2. I don't see why any of it requires a 'protest'. That's what you do when you've tried everything to communicate but the powers that be won't engage. I would like to know what has gone on between fans and club on these subjects already before offering any support to a 'protest'.

All sounds a bit self-important to me.

The more I hear about it the more it just sounds like a HFs protest. 🤷🏻‍♂️

As long as they have a membership then I agree. For as little as £25.

If I don't go to the gym on a selective day should I be allowed to share my gym membership with whoever I want?
Honestly, do want you want with your gym membership, doesn’t affect me!
As for Palace, if I’ve read the small print correctly, I can pass mine to anyone who has a client reference number. Not sure I need to protest over this. Albeit, it now sounds like previously mentioned it’s actually the HF protesting over what has replaced them. They decided to leave and now they want to protest. Bless em.

Ridiculous.

It's only full of tourists because we can't sell out our home games. Why we are increasing capacity of the stadium just to have empty seats I don't know.
There has been a change in use of season tickets partly caused by kickoff and date changes. Gone are the days when a season ticket holder will attend every match. I dont think the club have got the resales policy right but it is taking seriously the need to prevent profiteering, touting and away fans in home areas. This is a much bigger problem and concern to me than an overseas fan attending the odd match.

I wonder how many times we might read an update about what the protest is about which makes it very difficult for the club. And even though established communications are in place the HF decided to flounce without airing their grievances which is hardly fair on the club!

What HF seem to want is increased control over certain things but are not willing to take responsibility eg it is safer if the club arrange pyrotechnics and light shows than the HF. Thats just life Im afraid.

Also in todays world the club need to be accountable ( as far as is practically possible) to know who is sitting in which seat - not an away supporter or known troublemaker, or someone with a footie ban etc etc

Yes it’s all bullshit, I’ve been going 52 years and a large bulk of those years a season ticket holder, nearly 30 years in this same seat and palace has always been a very fair price. Even now when you compare it to other premier league teams, I know there’s issues around ticketing, but Simon Jordan used to say, you can’t please all of the people all of the time, they’ll always be someone with a beef
i didn’t agree with gold members being lumped in the same category as season ticket holders for the cup final, but hay ho, no one forces me to go, we’ve all got the choice not to attend if we’re not happy the way the clubs being run

Slightly off topic but my Millwall mate has had a season ticket since the seventies and and knows most of the people that sit around him.

He arrives at his seat just before kick off and often finds someone has pinched it. Most move when he explains they are in the wrong seat (it's a prime position). Occasionally the intruder stands his ground, not a good idea at the den, they mainly seem to be tourists rather than hardcore Millwall. He never bothers with the stewards but explains to them that he only asks politely once, and if they wont move, well let's just leave it at that.

After he turfed some guy out for the umpteenth time he turned to those sitting around him and said "Why do you never say anything to these people, you know it's my season ticket."

"What, and miss our pre-match entertainment, we look forward to it"

🙂

.
1. Where have all these average South Londoners been over the last 20 odd years? We certainly don’t sell out every week, and it’s not usually the good seats that go unsold?

2. When have we ever had no music and an atmospheric build up? The PA has been like this for 30 years at least?

3. How very big of the HF to let us know what they believe.

1. Palace has always been a local community club. Obviously the exposure of the club from being in the premier league has caused there to be more fans come in from other areas than Croydon and the surrounding areas, but ultimately Palace was, and is built on the local community. Not sure that selling out the stadium is justification to ask the question "where have all these average South Londoners been?". I have had the same season ticket for 15 years now (had a different seat for the years prior to that) and 90% of the seats around me are the same people. You see the same people week in/week out. They are the people that are having their matchday experience negatively impacted so that the "tourists" can listen to Taylor Swift straight after the full time whistle.

2. We play Glad All Over during the walk out and then it is over to the fans. Only recently have the fans been drowned out by some additional rubbish being pumped over the tannoy. It's unnecessary and no one has asked for it.

3. I'm not a member of the HF, nor ever had any affiliation with them - my opinion is very similar to theirs. Like them or not, they add to the club and it's sad that they have gone.

If you disagree with any of the points above, I'll ask you this question - in this seasons matchday experience, what makes us any different to Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs etc etc? If the answer is simply "the football", then we have no succession plan for the fans. That is the problem.

That rubbish we play after glad all over is the mandatory prem league anthem. Not the club's fault although we are trying our best to get out of playing it next season!!

I know they trialed playing a snippet of elvis and then faithless after people complained but it was hardly that intrussive and many other clubs do similar.

Everyone will have their opinion but there's no right or wrong answer or opinion so it just comes down to preference.
