FA Cup Final Display

Absolutely spot on! Like that huge picture they lowered from the roof of the Holmesdale at the start of the season. We thought it would be an eagle or perhaps Wilf, but it was somebody noone had heard of outside of the HF.
Certainly, something emblematic and that the majority of fans could relate to would have made more sense.

That took longer than I thought it would.

If fans are going to contribute thousands to a display, then it should be something representative of the club. You know, like an eagle or the Crystal Palace. The usual kind of stuff.

Some kid who got a shirt several years back seems a little obscure for a day at Wembley in my opinion.

I tend to agree.

Didn't offend me in any way, but lets be honest, nobody had any idea what it was. Or how it had any relevance. If the kid made the first team, of course. But something that happened years ago was a little odd

it probably was a bit obscure, but that doesn't make it 'virtue signalling'
I agree.

Taking the bloody knee and the pathetic rainbow laces, corner flags and captain's armband crap...that's virtue signalling.

At the semi, I admit I didn't have a clue what the HF's display was about, but now I know the reason behind it, it certainly wasn't virtue signalling.

How would you describe it?

The second it was unveiled I recognised it.

Personally, I thought it represented the one thing everyone could relate to. Going to a Palace game as a kid with your family, seeing something you'll never forget, and being hooked for life.

To make that particular City instance such a stand out, it had the added bonus of showing the connection between the first team and the fans which feels like it's grown again with this group under Glasner and is one of the feelings I'll most remember from that semi-final.

I can relate to that a heck of a lot more than an eagle (which we all know the HF did a tifo of at the last final).

Thought the last TIFO was great however the fact I had to research it a bit to understand the context took something away from it on the day. Felt a bit like an 'insider' thing representative of a small group of fans as opposed to the entire fanbase.

I'd prefer something that represented fans as a whole, that we all immediately recognise on the day, such as an Eagle. That's just my preference of course.

Couldn't have written this any better! Agree 100%

I accept(hving read the responses)that not everyone knew about or recognised that "kid&Townsend shirt moment",but that still blows my mind how differently tuned into Club iconic moments we all are as fans.

I imagine the HF could make a tifo of that "Ambrose&Father with his two sons moment@ United" and still some fans will label that random and obscure/niche

you've yet to explain in any way why you think it is virtue signalling...
Maybe you don't see it as virtue signalling. In order to understand why some do, perhaps you need to think about the self confessed political leanings of the HF. Although a small kid getting a shirt is nice on one level, why choose that for a semi final? I can't imagine many arriving at that choice.

Now I'm getting a little bored with your endless badgering on this subject. It's almost like you think that your opinion is the only one that matters.

I haven’t even given an opinion. All I’ve asked is for you to explain WHY it is virtue signaling and you are flat refusing to. What virtue do you think they are expressing here? You talk about politics… there is 0 political content in the tifo. It’s an Elvis song and a child receiving a shirt. You complain that I’m badgering you, but you chose to express an opinion and are refusing to explain what you mean by it. I don’t think anyone understands why you think it was ‘virtue signaling’. What do you think that phrase means and why does it apply to this apolitical, innocuous tifo?

I know this might come as a shock, but I am not obliged to explain it any more than I already have.

I would ask you why, with all the possibilities, including people, available, they chose that image?

Explain it to us as you see it, or move on.

Has that been photo shopped?

🙄

Oh, a tangent but serious question. The club restricts the number of season ticket holders for obvious reasons. However, I do not understand why it needs to restrict the number of Gold Members and International Members. Any clue out there?
Not a scooby mate . I didnt know the Gold or Int were restricted .

Because it encapsulates perfectly the idea of a fan falling in love with their club, because the image was famous and heavily associated with the club (so much so that the club interviewed Ethan at the time and then again 2 or3 years later). It’s pretty obvious why it was chosen. There’s nothing political i can see, no virtue signaling and you’ve not been able to highlight any reason why. (You claiming it is obscure has nothing to do with virtue signaling).

You, of course, are under no obligation to explain yourself but this is a discussion site, you post opinions you are going to get called out. You refuse to explain them you get called out again and you make yourself look quite the fool.
