Eze to spurs?

It was not a particularly reassuring reply. It sounded like the sort of diplomatic reply you make when you know someone is leaving, but it hasn't been confirmed. I hope I'm wrong about that, but I increasingly think at least one of them will leave. There has been a more detached way that Eze has talked about the club in recent months, which makes me think he's off. Watching pre-season, I think we're in trouble if he does go. Same goes for JP. Take them out and we're basically looking at Sarr as our only serious goal threat in the squad.
I thought he was a bit more equivocal on his own future than theirs.

Reports this morning from Spurs source that talks are underway between them, Palace and Ebs with him, allegedly, keen on the move! Forcing Arsenal’s hand?

Let’s hope it’s bs!

Report by alex crook also said that a week left on his buy out clause. I thought it had expired.

maybe i'm reading too much into it but i thought it was telling on sunday that jp was back on penalty taking and also after the game ollie and eze hardly engaged before ollie went to sarr and they really embraced.

I'd hate for him to go there, but I think Eze would do better at Spurs than Arsenal as he'd probably get more freedom to play his own game. The main questions are do Spurs have the money to pay at least somewhere close to his release clause and does Eze have a desire to go there. They are a bigger club than us and have CL football, but at his age this is possibly his last chance of signing for a top club. Spurs aren't really that any more. As I said weeks ago, if Spurs have an offer accepted and no one else comes in for him then I think he'd go. So far, Palace haven't shown the ability or inclination to invest in building on our recent success, and that seeming lack of ambition may cost us.

As always, I like to end by saying, don't leave us Eze!

I think he’s on his way but not sure who to.

Parish looked like he’s open to selling and he mentioned transfer fees still owed to other clubs that need to be paid.

If we can generate the best part of £100m from Ebs and Guehi then hopefully a good portion of that can be reinvested in replacements

I’d prefer both to stay but that’s looking increasingly unlikely

They better get ready to spends lots of money!

Will be a shame if this starts to move after we've missed out on Guessand
That's the name of the game though - the club should never have exposed itself to the risk that key players might leave days before the season starts with no replacements in sight or cover in the squad.

We should have signed the Guehi/Eze replacements weeks ago.

But then if those players don’t leave we have 2 new players unable to get game time on high salaries. If they don’t get sold and stay we will then be able to buy lesser players (for the future) to be squad players presently. Sadly it’s the type of club we are where we can’t have non playing top quality players. It’s a waiting game for clubs like us who can only replace once a quality player leaves. Doesn’t stop us getting squad players in for which we presently require a centre back in case of injury to our back 3. We only really have Lerma (with Riad out) to come in and he’s a central midfielder really? :-(

I wonder is something else going on? Maybe Woody attempting a deal with Blitzer and Harris - then he would be the majority shareholder/ owner?
I fail to see a reason why the three billionaires haven't say invested 10-15 mil each for something of a transfer kitty. Surely in their best interests that we continue to do well?
It would be typical of us to have something going on that the fans are unaware of.

I doubt Arsenal will give him that, either.
He wants what Olise wants, but wont get it, Spurs are a complete mess, Its like Wilf going to Galatasaray, for his two rounds, in the Champions League, Spurs will not finish in the top 10, Yes, Arsenal, Liverpool abroad but not Spurs, if he does, and i dont think he will, its purely money, not very Chistian

In a recent interview Ebs spoke of his ambition to win the Premier League…..if goes to Spurs it unlikely he’ll achieve it.

I just hope he doesn’t go there - so I hope Spuds interest lights a fire under Arsenal and they get the deal done ASAP.

Why would it be ‘close’ to his release clause? Surely it’s the release clause or the buyer can do one. By all accounts we need all them money we can get so I don’t see why it would be any less?

I don’t agree on quite a few fronts.

Firstly, I think Guehi and Eze still being at the club by the start of next season is extremely unlikely - sure, there’s a small ‘risk’ they don’t leave, but in terms of planning for the most likely outcome, it’s clearly that neither are here in a years time. We can’t take decisions based on a small chance of something happening (in this case the players in question staying).

We’re going to play an enormous volume of games this season, and certainly the current first XI are not going to be playing all of them - there is ample opportunity for playing time for a larger squad. If, for example, we signed Diomande this summer and Guehi ended up staying the year, Diomande still plays a good volume of games as ‘4th choice’ CB, massively improving our depth, with the added potential that he plays well enough to displace one of the current 3 starters.

Why can we only replace when a quality player leaves?

I would have thought most players would want to do that. It's not much of a lever to engineer a move.

It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that players have the same feelings towards the club that the fans do, particularly with the badge kissing, goal celebrations etc.
In reality they are ambitious professionals who want what's best for them, and that seems reasonable.

Guehi could sign a new contract with a release clause, but potentially that would mean that the money sloshing around in a deal would go to Palace instead of him as a free agent.
I know Olise did sign again, but I think in the future that will prove to be the exception rather than the rule.

Where I suppose you could say we have been fortunate is we seem to have avoided the Isac and Wissa situations with them refusing to train/play.

I'm being more of a realist. I think if someone offered close to the release clause, Parish would take it. He's shown he won't roll over, though, so unless there are some financial issues we don't know about, he's not going to sell players on the cheap. I don't want Eze to go, but £60 million+ is about right if he's privately expressed a desire to move. I don't agree with handcuffing players if we get a fair offer and they want to leave.

P.s. don't go Eze!
