Eze to spurs?

"The Gunners will have been boosted by the revelation that a Chelsea move for Eze is now ‘unlikely’ according to journalist Simon Phillips, who claims the Blues were ‘surprised’ by the Palace star’s demands" By Fabrizio Romano, a true 100% journalist 😵.
I smell BS from Chelsea.

They don't want to pay the release clause so rather than tell their fans that they blame the player and his agent.

Or more likely Exe wanted assurances that he wouldn't be warming the bench.

Knowing Chelsea they'd buy him just so that no one else could then loan him back to Palace

Perhaps like Guehi he wants assurances about where he'd be in the pecking order. He wants to cement his England place and Eze won't do that sitting on the Chelsea bench (or the Arsenal one for that matter)

Indeed. As much as I love him he'd likely start the season, but soon end up as an impact player.

Martinelli and Trossard are not as good at their best, but more consistant performers.

Taking two of the most inflated transfers of the last decade as the benchmark feels a bit loaded.

You can just as easily do it the other way:

'If Erling Haaland is worth £50m and Cole Palmer is worth £45m, Eze can't be worth more than £30m.'

'If Daniel Munoz is worth £8m and Ismaila Sarr is worth £
12m...'

The fact no one has met Eze's release clause yet suggests people don't think he's worth that price - £90m is complete fantasy land.

A great player, but anything over £60m... I'd be inclined to accept.
Utter rubbish. No one has ever negotiated downwards when selling a player. Especially one (Haaland) that was less than a year from becoming a free agent at the time. Sure, the buying club could try that nonsense but what idiot is going to say yeah sure we'll sell lower then!

Good job its not you in charge then eh?

For who? If thats not what Palace value him at thats not his value.

Is value defined by the seller or the buyer.

Regardless, a bunch of relatively comparable players have gone this window for that sort of value. You could argue that he's better than them. But is also 4 years or so older.

Because he's under contract until 27 we dont need to sell this window. I'd only do it if the money is right and the right replacement is available. (e.g. Eze for 60m and McAtee for 30m)

It's an interesting question. Arguably it depends on the clubs involved - a top 6 club buying from a lower division have a lot more say in the price than the other way around.
There is also the question of how value is determined. Will Hughes is worth more to us for his play than in financial terms.

Blimey, I didn't think I'd have to explain that yes, it would be the buying club trying to negotiate the price down.

Probably the same sort of idiot who you think is going to increase their offer because Harry Maguire was sold for £80m 6 years ago.

The Eze replacement if needed for me, would be Nico "Baba" O'Riley, City want to sell him and McAtee for FFP reasons, only on 4k a week at City.

There's probably never been a summer where so many possible replacements have been available.

McAtee and Elliott two no brainers for a start without any searching.

Can't be affording to have Guehi and Eze both get down to 1 year remaining situations. It looks less and less likely Eze will go this window which suggests we have some expensive summers ahead.

Now that arsenal have finally signed gykores all the rumours have started up again!

Bored journo's or is something close to happening? Hopefully the former and not the latter!!

As we know, Ebs was in the Arsenal academy and was gutted when they released him. Whether this is click bait putting 2 + 2 together etc., and thinking Ebs would jump at the chance to return to his first club or something genuine obviously remains to be seen. I'm tending to the view that the interest is real and Ebs would like to go back if a deal can be done. Our board may well decide that given what seems to be unfolding with Guehi (he could see out his contract and go for free next Summer), they'd rather take the £60m on offer for Ebs now (having just turned 27 he's at or near his peak value) and reinvest in Guessand and one or more other targets.

We are in a reasonable position with Eze and still up to club if want to sell. Looking at the Crawley game he looks pretty central to the plans so unless Arsenal stump up he ain’t going anywhere, I think arsenal want to do a deal - why would we help them
