There’s one report that Arsenal are willing to include the unsettled Trossard in a part exchange for Eze.
Probably no substance to it, but I can’t think of many better fits for that left sided front 3 role in which Eze has featured.
Trossard is very effective in this position and gets his fair share of goals and assists.
He’s a bit older than Eze, but if we’re genuinely hopeful that Esse and Franca will make the breakthrough that needn’t be a huge hurdle.

He's actually quite a bit older than Eze as he turns 31 later this year. The lack of a sell-on fee should mean his cost would be low
If I was him, I would stay the final year of my contract at the better club and move for free next summer. He is not going to get a significant pay increase from Palace. The only advantage we might offer is starter minutes in a World Cup year
Arsenal would like to sign Eze but they have spent too much this summer for ffp rules, so they have to get us to drop the price or accept a player so they can claim they didn`t spend as much.
Which gives Palace an advantage, prehaps tell Arsenal we want these two players of our choice plus a fee or the full fee.

Basically, of the players Arsenal might be willing to offload, there aren't any we are likely to want. Furthermore, unlike with Chelsea, I can't readily remember any decent players we got from them - only remember decent players they took off of us.
As for Trossard - too old IMO not to mention ex South Coast player! (but I won't hold that against him).

Does anybody else remember a time limit on the release clause, i thought it was the first six weeks from the opening of the window, then it doesn't apply, or maybe i just dreamt it 🙄

Last year Eze's release clause expired on 31st July. I imagine the same or very similar is the case this year. This was to protect the club from losing him with no time to source a replacement late in the window and it was also put in place so Eze himself knows whats happening with his immediate future.
Basically, we all know the quality he has. He is worth every penny at £68m. Personally I feel if Jack Grealish is worth £100M and Harry Mcguire is worth £80 (both these deals 3/4 years ago) Eze has to at least be worth £90m. Probably more. If a buying club wants him bad enough they'll pay what we want.
Arsenal have apparently spoken to Eze's agent which may or may not be true but they have not made any contact last I heard with Palace. A deal cannot be done unless agreement is reached with Palace so....
If rumours are to be believed Arsenal want Palace to reduce the fee-not going to happen, or they want Palace to accept payment in 100 annual instalments-not going to happen, or they want Palace to accept makeweights in the deal like Martinelli who they suddenly value at a whopping £60m-not going to happen.
Gone are the days when Palace were desperate for the money or were a soft touch that Arsenal felt they could bully. 'You have to accept what we are offering and be thankful because we are Arsenal' That might work on other clubs and it probably used to with us but not any more.
I dont expect Eze to be going anywhere this summer. If a serious club with money to spend and determination to get a deal done came in then maybe but thats not Arsenal and its certainly not cheapskate Spuds!
I'm going to say we won't replace and hope that one of Esse or Franca turns up. Isn't that the point of signing these guys young and for reasonable money - at least on our budget.

"The Gunners will have been boosted by the revelation that a Chelsea move for Eze is now ‘unlikely’ according to journalist Simon Phillips, who claims the Blues were ‘surprised’ by the Palace star’s demands" By Fabrizio Romano, a true 100% journalist 😵.

Perhaps like Guehi he wants assurances about where he'd be in the pecking order. He wants to cement his England place and Eze won't do that sitting on the Chelsea bench (or the Arsenal one for that matter)
