Last year we lost to Everton (a) and City (h) so probably good to get those out the way as we are getting into the grove of the new season.

Then we face winnable games against teams who have either changed their manager or large squad overhauls.

Unfortunately they will bully us as usual to a comfortable 2-0 victory. At least one from a set piece.

If we’ve had the housery to ‘accidentally’ post a video of him completely f***ed and limping badly ahead of the Everton game and he plays then that’s hilarious strategy from our club. I can’t see how he plays but I have every faith in Benetiz because he is absolutely top drawer.

TBH the goalkeeping position is the least of my concerns!

If we play anything like we did against Freiburg then it could be a painful start to the season. Hopefully another week on the training pitch leads to an improvement and despite his lack of a pre-season I'd definitely start Mateta up top as JSL just doesn't make anything happen.

Sage talked about getting the players back to playing the precise Glasner tactics as they weren't ready to implement his ideas (many players having only been back from the World Cup for a week or two before Freiburg is a reasonable excuse)

So JP Mateta is much better for that set up than Jørgen Strand Larsen. But Mateta hasn't played a minute in pre season so I can't believe he will start.
