Elon Musk's SpaceX raises $75bn

The valuation of SpaceX is truly bloated and not reflected in the financials. They only made 6 billion last year yet have a 1.7 Trillion dollar valuation. Meta by comparison made 229 billion last year and have a significantly lower valuation. Its truly overhyped to the maximum and I am not touching until the price of those shares go down significantly. When it drops hard thats your time to buy. Think like a millionaire would.

There is also the dark cloud of exit liquidity looming. The shares are currently in a lock up period, when that lock up period is lifted, expect a rug pull of biblical portions.

You would be far better off paying for a decent investing book by Andrew Craig. Taught me everything I needed to know. All of my stock investments have made me money so far. "How to Own The World by Andrew Craig" Is the one I read.

The ability to utilise space with very few competitors is a future goldmine.

A lot of tech will be going up there, like data centres and eventually most Internet outside cities will come from space satellites.

I think as a long term bet it's a sensible investment.

If you have a lot of dosh and time.

The vast majority are just trying to get by each month.....but yeah.

Successful families are those that build for the future, families that fail are often ones that only care for the here and now.

Most extended families....if they keep together and don't break up over petty egos, will contain at least one successful individual who then can help the younger individuals via contacts and so on. It can lead to built wealth and if you look at wealthy families who started out poor it's usually how they got there.....Eddie Hearn's dad came from a council estate.

It's why fragmented families are so destructive to futures.

I see that argument but it is still a punt, so far space has just been a financial black hole (pun intended).

What if another technology change comes along that means we don't need data centres in space?

Betamax vs NHS. Betamax was the better technology but lost out.

Broadband will soon not be required as 5G and 6G will make it obsolete. It maybe that data centres in space is the best technical solution but that a cheaper option is more practical.

It's why I am no good at stock picking. I got my fingers burnt when the internet first came along and backed all the wrong companies.

The rich lot in my family never gave me anything.

For me it's quite simple.....maybe I'm just simple.

Space is still mainly an untapped resource.

It's going to be used.

The companies that can ultise it are limited in number.

Just on that bird's-eye view it makes sense.

But I agree that in the short term it could have ups and downs.

In terms of Broadband, it comes down to consumer cost and the more competition in that market the better.

With data centres I don't see land based systems being able to compete cost wise.

That said, I think those that are pumping everything into SpaceX are really betting the house.....I think it's best left to those who can afford that risk.....but just giving my opinion, long term I think it pans out.

That's been true of Tesla for years, and yet the price keeps climbing.

What he says politically is dangerous, often completely misinformed and totally unwelcome in places he has no legitimate interest in.

He is a technical visionary who has, like others in the USA, managed to convince people that business competence can be transferred into the world of politics.

I haven’t bought his shares. Nor will I. I sense an enormous bubble surrounded by pricks.
You’re having a laugh. Politically dangerous. Never from the mouths of our leaders though, left and right I might add!!!

Are you eating Aeros at the nudist beach again?

To me, Musk has similarities to James Dyson. Not inventors, but they have a happy knack of seeing potential and gathering the right specialists around them to make it happen. It's a risky market, seeming reliant on Musk continuing his rich vein of form. How much potential for continued growth, is anyone's guess. Musk might just be cashing in, and preparing to retire, that would be my concern , as a potential investor.

Musk is a Steve Jobs type figure.

Investors know that he's at the forefront of leading technologies and that the most talented people want and get to work in his companies.

While Musk is leading he's going to be invested in.....Bezos isn't that different.

It's the modern day version of the captains of industry.

People can view these things as positive or negative but while there's a stock market it's going to be whoever people think makes money......Jobs was talented, Musk is talented....some people are winners and take intelligent risks that pay off....it's not as though Musk has done this with just one company.

Obviously I view Musk as a net positive in several ways but it doesn't really matter....What Ricky Gervais
said at that awards ceremony was correct.

If those virtue signalling actors saw that ISIS started a production company loaded with money and offered them high paying jobs most would accept the offer quick before someone else did.

Morality is one thing but only the really wealthy can afford a nose in the air if they want to make it.....it's all 'go along to get along'....it's human nature that's as old as the hills.

I'm not saying me or others are morally superior, it just is what it is.

It's why money nearly always wins and the elites with the most money get to influence directions much more than politicians....who are mostly their whores.

I hope you weren't referring to David Beckham and Stevie G 😀

This guy says it all about Musk

It would be nice if we lived in a world where billions of dollars donated to charitable causes never ends up in the wrong hands. Not the world we live in I am afraid. You'll be over the moon to know that Elon Musk has donated millions to charitable causes.
