Hands up I am a terrible investor. I bought shares in IT start up companies that failed and sold Amazon shares which if I had kept would make me a millionaire today.

SpaceX has been priced by the market at a huge value making Musk a Trillionaire. I don't get what the revenue stream is?

Is it in internet Satellite revenue stream? Surely not space exploration that is just a Black Hole (pardon the pun).

I have heard talk about AI Data Centres being launched into space as they will be more efficient (power wise) . Is this pie in the sky?

Anyway all I can see is that the shares will debut at top of the range price so there is no bargain for investors and the business is high risk because it will take huge investment and cutting edge technology.

But then what do I know.

Sensible answers please.

Just watched a very interesting documentry about Musk on BBC. Clever man but as mad as a box of frogs
Must people of that calibre are, Nikola Tesla was an oddball and a genius. However it was Edison who made practical use of his inventions and made money.

Bill Gates would be the modern equivalent of Edison, not a great inventor but great at seeing the potential of other peoples work (MS Dos and Windows) for example.

Musk is as bright as Tesla but with the business acumen of Edison.

My opinion on Musk is that what he says is normally correct and he delivers.

What he gets wrong....or oversells is the time frame.

I think the global economy will be rocky for some time yet, so I see buying shares like his are long term bets.

The most competent people are attracted to his companies and thus while he leads them I don't see failure. But his products will remain expensive and I think it'll be years before those bets pan out.
