Edouard

Nketiah has only been here half a season and not been given a run. Imagine if JPM got injured, would you really want Edouard as the alternative? When we KNOW he's not up to it, we dont know with Eddie (Eddy?) yet but there's a decent chance he is.

When JPM joined I though it was so unfortunate Roy dropped him/didn't give him a run after that sublime back heeled goal he scored in his first game. Look how that turned out. Folks are too easy to jump to premature conclusions.
Mateta and are two very different players in terms of style, with the former being a physical target-man who can hold the ball up and link the play and the latter who is not a physical presence but a "Run in behind" player with pace.
I have not written Nketiah off and of course I hope he blossoms in our team.

When asked previously about Eduoard being sent back OG clammed up like the customer service desk at M&S when someone looks to return an item without a receipt. For the life of me I do not understand why he was given a new contract, but maybe we'll do ok out of it in the end. From OE's perspective, he would probably do well in the MLS or another lifestyle league where he can earn top dollar without breaking a sweat. Tekkers was the leading goal scorer in the MLS last season ahead of Messi and Suarez.

I want Nketiah to do well but his career record is one of a bit part player at this level. I don’t think Edouard is exactly the second coming of Ian Wright but he scored more goals last league season than Nketiah has ever scored in his career including on loan in the Championship. So while I wouldn’t be delighted with Edouard as back up to JPM I don’t see he would be any worse than Nketiah and also meant we wouldn’t have forked out £25m. We can say Nketiah hasn’t been given a run but he was in the starting eleven at the start of the season and wasn’t good enough so was dropped. Just like Kamada. He had lots of chances at Arsenal but wasn’t good enough to establish himself. Maybe, after several seasons in the EPL we just have to conclude he isn’t good enough to be more than a sub.

Complete and utter balderdash, almost everything incorrect.

He has only played 267 mins as CF, his scoring record at Arsenal was a goal every 202 mins, which puts him above Watkins, Rashford, Calvert-Lewin, Solanke, Jiminez, Welbeck, Hojlund and Wood, they are premier league goals for Arsenal by Transfermkt, so pipe, stick. your, and, smoke, put, that and in, spring to mind

I think someone got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning!

Yes all true but doesn’t actually make anything I wrote incorrect does it so I’m good for a pipe, thanks for the offer. I don’t remember my post covering minutes per goals so not sure why you’ve chosen that to say it was incorrect. It remains a fact that Edouard scored more league goals last season and than Nketiah has ever scored in a league season. It also remains facts that Nketiah was a bit part player at Arsenal and got dropped from our fist eleven.

Look we have different options on Nketiah and that’s fine. It’s perfectly fine to say you disagree with my opinion. Life would be boring if we all agreed all the time. It would be nice if we could disagree respectfully though.

You’re right Roy was the worst possible manager for Mateta, that back heel goal was outrageous against Brighton! You could see there was a frustrated striker in there. OG comes in and low and behold we have a class striker on our hands!

Not by minute on the pitch he didn't.

Why dont you put a sock in it, where is the yawning emoji when you want it.

If esse can play on the left like Munoz on the right the balls delivered will potentially increase and eddy may get the service to play to his strengths.

But JHB did not say that. He said Edouard scored more League goals last season than Eddie has ever scored in his career - He is correct.

You may wish to use a different form of analysis (Goals by minute on the pitch) but that does not make JHB incorrect.
It does in my book, strangely you tend to get the strikers that have lower goals per minutes better than those with higher, EG Salah 131m And Edouard 282m,

Well to say ‘Complete and utter balderdash, almost everything incorrect’ to someone who is actually factually correct in what they have said, is wrong, misleading and disingenuous - no matter what you may think.

I couldn't care one iota

Not by minute on the pitch he didn't.
2017/0018 - 3 EPL appearances 0 goals
2018/2019 - 5 EPL appearances 1 goal
2019/2020 - 13 EPL appearances 2 goals
2020/2021 - 17 EPL appearances 2 goals
2021/2022 - 21 EPL appearances 5 goals
2022/2023 - 30 EPL appearances 4 goals
2023/2024 - 27 EPL appearances 5 goals

In 7 seasons at Arsenal Eddie made 116 appearances scoring 19 goals. Often as a sub, quite probably used with the knowledge that a lively striker with fresh legs should get the better of tiring defenders. Let us remind ourselves that this is in a good Arsenal side, hence their position in the top three. A contrast to a Palace side drilled into defensive "shape" by the single minded negativity of Roy Hodgson. And yet Edouard managed to outscore Nketiah, remarkable really.
If the club had picked up for Nketiah as a super sub for below the £10m mark then fans might have understood, but what was paid and the reality of the return do not match up.

That's not minutes on the pitch though is it, 12mins at the end of the game is not an appearance is it, a goal every 202 minutes on the pitch is a fact. get a grip.
