Crystal Palace vs. Nottingham Forest match thread

Notts Florist should’ve been 4-0 up by 40 mins. Some woeful defending from us in the first half.

If you're going to take every little bite as a goal, and you've taken one attack as two goals here too, then the score would be something like 3-5 at half time, and 9 - 6 at full time

The term "Pino celebration" refers to a highly publicized viral moment involving Spanish football winger Yéremy Pino during Spain's 2026 FIFA World Cup victory celebrations. [1] (Spain host mocks Ronaldo while introducing Yeremy Pino at World Cup celebration)

The World Cup Introduction Mockery

Following Spain’s 1-0 extra-time triumph over Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final, the Spanish squad returned to Madrid for an open-top bus parade and an official stage event to greet fans. [1] (Spain host mocks Ronaldo while introducing Yeremy Pino at World Cup celebration)
When introducing Yéremy Pino to the stage, the event host, Juanma Castaño, made a playful, cheeky comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo that immediately went viral on social media: [1] ( ), [2] (Spain host mocks Ronaldo while introducing Yeremy Pino at World Cup celebration)
"In the Lomo del Chino neighborhood, they used to call him Cristiano Ronaldo... but he is the one who has the World Cup." [1] (Derek Katey Caesar), [2] (Spain host mocks Ronaldo while introducing Yeremy Pino at World Cup celebration)
The joke stemmed from a childhood nickname given to Pino for his playing style. The host's punchline explicitly poked fun at the legendary Portuguese icon, who has won almost every major team and individual honor in football except the elusive FIFA World Cup. The comment caused the entire Spanish squad to burst into laughter as Pino walked out, while sparking mixed reactions online between fans who enjoyed the banter and Ronaldo loyalists who found it unnecessary. Alternate Context: Crystal Palace Goal Celebrations

If you are looking at his club career, Yéremy Pino (who moved to Crystal Palace F.C. from Villarreal) has made headlines for two distinct on-pitch goal celebrations: [1] (Yeremy Pino Celebration)
• The Apology Gesture: After scoring his first goals for Crystal Palace, Pino notably celebrated by gesturing an apology to his own supporters. He later explained in interviews that he felt he owed the fans an apology for missing big chances in previous matches.
• The Yellow Card Incident: In October 2026, Pino scored the third goal in a -1 victory over Nottingham Forest. He lifted his match shirt in celebration, which resulted in a yellow card for "excessive celebration". This sparked a minor Premier League refereeing debate online when another player (Jack Rudoni) went unpenalized for a similar shirt-lifting gesture the following day. Obviously very happy with the result yesterday, but separate from that we do need to find a leader/cheerleader on the pitch. Much as I love Adam, he’s not a demonstrative captain. I know the importance of this role can be overstated, but Lacroix was really good at this and establishing a rapport with the fans. There’s no obvious candidate but I think it would help if one emerged.
Agree. However neither Jedinak or Guehi were either. They relied on Damo and Lacroix to gee everyone up. The reason they were made captains was their influence in the dressing room. Our best ever captain was arguably Jim Cannon. For those too young (or not born) he was called the best central defender never capped by Scotland (when they had a good team) and controlled the players on the pitch. Ian “snowflake” Wright accused him of bullying but funnily enough no other players did in his 17 years at Palace. Being “Mr Nice Guy” gets you nowhere on the pitch.

A Scot calling an Englishman tight has a little irony to it.

Still buzzing after this win 👍

We just need to sort out defending and we should be ok.

Timber and Benitez outstanding 🙂

Diomande was a bit rubbish for them

Up the palace tonight 👍
If Timber could add a few goals we'd really have a player on our hands. Watching the CL goals last night there were a few scored from picking up the ball after the keeper had parried a shot out which is something we haven't been great at but with Sage's more aggressive attacking we might see more.
