Crystal Palace vs. Nottingham Forest match thread

Obviously very happy with the result yesterday, but separate from that we do need to find a leader/cheerleader on the pitch. Much as I love Adam, he’s not a demonstrative captain. I know the importance of this role can be overstated, but Lacroix was really good at this and establishing a rapport with the fans. There’s no obvious candidate but I think it would help if one emerged.

Timber strikes me as ironically perfect captain material but of the inclination to not want the burden of that role (so he can just get on with his business)!

I’d love Mitchell or Richards to step up but don’t see them performing the role in that manner.

Nobody seems ‘perfect’ for the role atm but I still would like to see a few players step up as senior representatives for the team.

Probably best to wait and see who is still here for next season’s captain. Could end up being the tea lady at the rate we sell our decent players.

Richards has captained his country.

Someone like Doucoure does not seem to have captained but might be an outside candidate.

Beyond these I think Henderson is as good a candidate as any. Timber may join that list but he is just in the door and I'd like to see him play a full season first before taking a call on it.

Watching Coventry and Newcastle, Rudoni scores and lifts up his shirt to show 'Get well soon Nan' written on his undershirt. No yellow card. I guess it is ok and not cardable if you lift your shirt to show something like sending well wishes to someone, his Gran I guess, or maybe it is just acceptable if you don't play for Palace.
Always good to see the consistent application of the rules /s.

HUUUUUGHES

You're right but he's not playing much. I suppose Timber's seen to that but I wonder whether Sage is not keen on Hughes. Too much of a joker? which I realise runs slightly contrary to the captaincy credentials.
To be honest I wasn't that serious, mainly for the reasons you stated.

Dean Henderson has shown a lot of love for the club in the past, I think he'd be my choice, not just because he's my favourite player.

Notts Florist should’ve been 4-0 up by 40 mins. Some woeful defending from us in the first half.

Marking zonal for set pieces and corners when they overload the far post and then block our defenders from getting back to their spare man is just criminal and basics. Arsenal have been doing it against us for at least two seasons now and we still haven’t worked out how to defend it!

How we won that I have no idea. Huge win though and a very valuable 3 points. Benitez MoTM by a country mile.

But they weren’t and we capitalised, how many times have we battered teams early on, not scored and ended up losing? Quite a few over the years

It was political stuff that got you in hot water.

An absolute outrage. Obviously the ref at our game couldn't speak Spanish and booked Pino in case he'd written something controversial.

I thought he'd written 'Get well soon mum' on his vest. Like you said redshift, no consistency.
