At the end of the day lack of players doesnt stop us missing 2 open goals on Thursday, or today kamada not tracking zirkzee then our keeper not saving the shot, or between them not work out how to construct a wall, or blooming nketiah cant pass to a team mate when its 2 on 1.
I think our esteemed manager needs to grow some cohones and deal with it, it does start at the top, all this negativity will filter down to the players. He picks the team, so Esse & Uche dont do what he wants them to do, so drop them but that wont happen.
If he wants to leave then bye bye it was fun when it lasted...managers come and go

Sure, but if he were to have a 100% success rate with all the players he encounters he'd be the messiah. Needless to say he's managed to steer the club to a record EPL points total, two trophies, a place in Europe, and also (take note Steve Parish) increased the market value of virtually all of our first team, through success on the pitch and by nomination for international duty. Olise, French international, plays for one of the best teams in Europe now, Eze, England international, plays for the best team in England now = over £100m for those two alone. Mateta, now part of the French team, Wharton, selected for England. Guehi, England's number 1. All players who have improved under Glasner's guidance. When I think of previous managers I can think of some players going backwards, none improved.
He'll go, and Parish will have to think long and hard why he didn't back the club's most successful manager to the hilt.

eze,olise,geuhi and wharton to some extent were going to reach the levels they are at with or without glasner. I will give him credit for Mateta though. I think you are thoroughly overestimating glasner's player development abilities. His edge is in his tactical proficiency and getting the players to perform effectively in that system.

What is becoming patently obvious is we have developed into a one-speed team using the same predictable tactics with free kicks and set pieces. Everything is by the aerial route - no one in midfield will hold the ball and bring it forward - it is all one-touch at speed and usually inaccurate. Our deterioration in second halves is due to this hell-for-leather attitude - we are just not fit or young enough to maintain it.

Strasbourg set the template by being fit and fast, a predominantly young team who kept going and wore us down.

It is not surprising we concede more goals later on in the game

We are being found out by our predictability - we no longer have 'mavericks' like Eze who added variety. We miss him and it is beginning to show. Pino is a decent player, still adapting to the PL but is no replacement. We need a ball playing No.10 to work with Wharton who is being dragged down by our kick and rush tactics

Reading the comments this morning, my opinion is the truth is somwhere in the middle.

We enjoyed an amazing and successful cup run last year. The greatest day ever. That will never be taken away. However, we should absolutely have built upon that success and momentum early and that is very much on Parish and co. No way should they have waited to see who stayed or went. Glasner was rightly angry about this.

However, Parish has done an outstanding job of making us a level and well maintained premier league club and I think too many, myself included, forget where we have come from and how far we have come. The fact we are pissed off because we lose matches from playing too many games, being in Europe and later stages of cups… come on, this is an absolute golden moment for us.

Do I think more rotation is needed? Absolutely. Do I think Wharton and Kamada is our strongest pairing? Absolutely not. As I said yesterday, Wharton and Hughes should be the league starting pair with Lerma and Kamada the cup pairing. Cavot starts the cup early rounds and Europe along with Soza, divenny and Eddie. I would be bringing Esse in too.

Will Glasner do this. Absolutely not. The guy wants to win.

I do think he himself has forgotten that we are little old Palace. We just don’t have the funds. He says we need to learn from our losses… that includes him too.
He is likely to be gone at the end of the season, I suggest we wrap in and enjoy this Glasner era while we can.

It indicates he doesn’t understand the fundamentals that underpin our club. Ones that won’t change until Parish is no longer in charge and hopefully long after that too.

We work within our means. That progress has been steady rather than spectacular is a tribute to its wisdom. We are no longer a yo yo club. That gives stability. We aren’t a rich club so we must buy cheap and sell high. We have created an excellent academy and are going to develop the ground.

From where I started watching the 3rd Division South on a ground with 3 open sides that’s real progress.

A man who lashes out -cares- a mercenary who doesn't give a fig would say little and float off,his outburst is heartfelt. I realise the economic fundamentals of the club and I also realise that we have bought a long list of duds over the last twenty years.

We all appreciate the players didn't have the rest time that Utd had, as they aren't in Europe.
We lost the game because of the second goal, it was a total shambles from our point of view, Henderson didn't look ready, the wall still being organised and players not focussed. Our defensive record has been outstanding, but that goal conceded was a low point and could of been avoided, Glasner reaction said it all.

I think this is a fair summary. I expect there will be an interesting chat between Parish and Glasner this morning! If I were Parish I’d be pissed off that the coach is laying the blame for the defeat at his door yet again. Last time that happened he did back track somewhat and admit they had tried to sign players and failed rather than suggesting it was a deliberate intention to make a profit from sales. I’d like to think he’s calmed down and might reflect that it wasn’t his best post match interview.
In terms of January he said last week signings were required while yesterday appeared to be saying it’ll be too late to impact on this season, presumably because it takes too long to integrate players into his system. In that regard one can only assume Esse and Uche are not going to get into his team. If I were SP I’d be wondering whether it’s worth buying players into January if they’re not going to help what’s left of the season and the manager isn’t committed to staying. If Glasner leaves which seems increasingly likely the next manager will expect a budget for the summer. What happens in January will reflect the outcome of some serious conversations between the pair this week I suspect.

Our performances in the second half of our last two games have been disappointing and I will suggest that fatigue enters the equation. Fatigue has both physical and mental consequences and it would appear that both goals were a result of us not been wholly focussed in those moments.

We did look jaded second half yesterday, I know it’s easy to use that excuse after playing Thursdays now, but is anyone surprised it would eventually catch up with us? Normally we would’ve thrown the kitchen sink at any team in the second half kicking towards the holmesdale but yesterday it just didn’t happen, in fact nothing happened against a still very average and beatable United

Even if he’s right. Is that what you say in public? Parish is a true guardian of the club. He might not get it right all the time but he has its interests at heart.

And he is coming across like a spoiled brat. It’s the timing. He said it when he was upset coz we lost another match we should have won. Those goals we didn’t take were in the 1st halves. That’s not tiredness. (Although the players are clearly knackered) First time I have been disappointed at OG. He came across pathetically. Which is a shame.

Interesting that he wouldn't develop any young players. He's not going to fit our model for the future. We're going to have to use players like Ozoh and Imray in the future. We're not going to buy the finished article every time. And we're certainly not going to spend big every transfer window. That's just the way it is. No value judgement on Glasner or the club.

I thought Nketiah’s ‘effort’ just before half time sums up everything that’s wrong with him. He basically turns to jelly when an ‘under the spot-light’ opportunity presents itself where his real footballing skill, composure and guts are tested. Harsh as it may sound, it looked to me he intentionally went slow to let himself get caught rather than test himself in full glare. He’s little more than a hit and hope merchant where he can hide behind Lady Luck. I also rarely ever see him place a shot which is why he finds the keeper so much.

Mateta share’s similar traits to Nketiah but not nearly as bad although again the more time he has the more his legs turn to jelly.

When Sarr’s not playing we’re worryingly impotent up front.

Oh..to have someone like Ian Wright or Glenn Murray again.

One has to revist Glasner's comments in Austria apropos our transfer activity in the summer and his desire for additions early in the 'Window'.
He has clearly been disappointed, frustrated perhaps even angry, and has kept his emotions in check to the media.
Yesterday on the back of a defeat and under questioning straight after a loss he delivered what has been gnawing away at him.

Not sure about Esse, he appears to have a lot skill but seems to me to trying to win games on his own but ends up losing the ball. Being put on as a sub and then taken off tells me he's not doing his job. I can see a loan coming up.

Are the wheels coming off the cart? Historically things fall apart slowly at first, and then all of a sudden. Some folks are surprised by the suddeness, not noticing the slow build up. It seems to me that the club has over-reached that which, given its resources, it is capable of successfully achieving. Which is competing at the highest level in the league and in Europe, and in two domestic cup competitions.
Although the club is reliant on the sale of quality players the loss of both Eze and Olise in quick succession has left an attacking hole not yet filled. This is becoming apparent as the season progresses and many chances are missed. Things don't happen immediately, pieces are patiently put in place for the whole picture to emerge, and conversely its the same when pieces are taken away and not replaced, slowly but surely things deteriorate.
Oliver Glasner will leave, Parish will appoint someone else. Palace will find its own level, which in recent years has been between 12th and 14th. Most of the current first 11 will leave, Parish cashing in whilst the going is good.
This isn't meant to sound gloomy, rather it's an appraisal of the natural ebb and flow of a club Palace's size. Enjoy it while you can.
