we cant have VAR making all the calls , we would need shifts to watch a complete game each half would take 8hours , so Refs can only give what they see , as for our first goal he saw the ball go left away from goal so he believed the liverpool player kicked it that way , if the linesman was on that side (old school term) he may have signaled goal kick , so swings and roundabouts , also didnt see the defender protest to muchWith the greatest of respect Mark Clattenburg never made any such comment.
All he asserted was that the corner should not have been awarded and at present VAR cannot interfere in an incorrect corner being awarded.
Football lawmakers (IFAB) are reportedly considering increasing VAR's powers which include corners.we cant have VAR making all the calls , we would need shifts to watch a complete game each half would take 8hours , so Refs can only give what they see , as for our first goal he saw the ball go left away from goal so he believed the liverpool player kicked it that way , if the linesman was on that side (old school term) he may have signaled goal kick , so swings and roundabouts , also didnt see the defender protest to much
IFAB are considering 'goal line Technology' for all the base line so corners can be correct, not to give VAR jurisdiction. They are however, seriously considering using VAR for 'cautionable' offences, which will be trialled in various Junior Leagues as from 6th Jan.Football lawmakers (IFAB) are reportedly considering increasing VAR's powers which include corners.
They are open to discussion on this matter.
Oh dear! I was hoping for VAR's efforts to be reduced! More instantaneous football and less unwanted bureaucracy, load of pedantic meddlers.Football lawmakers (IFAB) are reportedly considering increasing VAR's powers which include corners.

Oh my goodness! With respect you asserted that Clattenburg opined that "our first goal should have been disallowed".
He passed a comment on the award of a corner.
Football is becoming more and more like its american counterpart...Here's the trialling of another 'innovation' from FIFA/IFAB . . . the 'Green Card'. Some of you have already said about wanting coaches/bench to challenge ref's calls &/or VAR, well with this you can(ish) It's being trialled in Chile for the U20's World Cup & coaches are only allowed to use it twice per game . . .
Trump will not be happy with more green cards being handed out.Football is becoming more and more like its american counterpart...
Absolutely. I've been thinking - and saying - the same thing for years. One has to wonder whether the authorities understand English. Perhaps this definition from Oxford Languages will help: Obvious: easily perceived or understood, clear, self-evident.VAR are doing to much now looking at something for 4 mins is there base line for clear and obvious , NO if you cant see it in 30seconds then its not clear and obvious , very simple
EFAOh my goodness!
Impervious or what. As ST wrote: No corner no goal.
You're splitting hairs, old boy.
He should have squared it to be fair, but I never tend to blame good strikers for being greedy. When Mateta went one on one with Alison I had no confidence he would score 🙊
He's had a good few one on ones this season and hasn't put them away.

We hit the post a couple of times and the bar, hopefully we've been working on our finishing. I thought the Mateta long shot was going in off the inside of the post. That would have been brilliant. That's fair. I'm sure once one goes in a few more will follow. He seems better when he doesn't have time on the ball and has to think.
