Crystal Palace vs Chelsea match thread

Corrupt reffing was massively influential. That's cost us a point in certain.
Yup. No pen, even after VAR; his arm was in a natural position. Then, just to rub salt into the wound there wasn't even a VAR check on a handball they committed: unbelievable.

Adam's sending off was justified but the penalty claims were crucial, pivotal.

No it's not. We've spent (for us) a lot of money in this and the Summer window. The problem is the quality of players we've bought together with Glasner's reluctance to use the whole of his squad thereby leading to bad injuries to key players. Glasner's inability to have a plan B when it was clear that his plan A wasn't working with what was left of the squad didn 't help either
Agreed. Parish is the same man who was Chairman when we won the F.A. Cup in May. Glasner is merely an episode, glorious as it was for a while. Parish is the continuity. You can't 'vote him out', neither should he be. He's been a huge asset to Palace during his tenure. Of course, he gets things wrong, but he gets more right. He appointed Glasner for good (plenty of that until about eight games ago) and ill (2 points from the last 24).
We have really struggled in the third tier European competition. Has it been worth it? I'd suggest not. It's only worth taking part in if its won. Otherwise it's a distraction and has merely led to players being overworked and getting injured. That said, a home defeat to Larnica suggests that the manager doesn't have the sort of tactical flexibility that would help. The suggestion that Glasner might eschew tactical flexibility because he wants to make a point to the Board is alarming in the extreme, if true.
I think that Glasner should not be sacked. He got us into this mess and he can get us out of it. The manager's job is to do the best with what's available. Not to tell the Chairman what should be available. Get on with your job, man.

We’ve not won in 12. Have only scored four times in that run and lost to Macclesfield. We are a bad team.
This puts me in mind of what was being said two years ago about the team, which, once the injury blight receded, achieved several impressive runs and won the FA Cup. I would though concede that Wharton and Munoz were a substantially more helpful response to the situation than what we are currently seeing.

Yet Parish has to partly own that we are two more losses away from relegation fight - just what the fans asked for

Parish has done great BUT he’s pushing it to close to the wrong wire - it was season to crack on not lose the plot !
I'm not here to defend Parish but our American friends own the purse strings and they don't seem to want to put any of their own money into transfers - only the money from sales seems to be spent. It's very frustrating for us fans 😤

It's not only about wins draws can be good as well so long as not losing so using the wording like that is misleading to suit your agenda.

So you believe players missing chances and others making mistakes is a system error ok time you to move on and get educated you are clueless.

If it's a system found out we wouldn't have any chances at all.

If JPM & Sarr put those away it changes the game well they didnt again from JPM. (we missed around 4 big chances JPM 2 of them)

You didnt even watch the game we had multi chances. (It doesnt matter if you score from open play or not winning is winning)
We got one draw against Villa and one against Fulham. That’s it in the current run. As you rightly say if we were earning hard fought draws we could say the system isn’t at fault. We aren’t.

Of course players making errors and missing chances are a part of it. You are looking for an argument I’m not making there. But when you can’t win, draw or score I think it’s fair to say the system ain’t working.

But 2 wins out of those 4 ( even if we lose the other 2) and that gives us 34 points and still another handful of games to play.
I hear you but my point was more that the next 4 games are all against teams below us or just above us and are our best opportunity to put some increasing daylight between us and that bottom 3... 9 points from those games would be fantastic.

However I genuinely cant see it. We are a club in disarray whereas those below us are starting to pick points up, or showing some type of form.

We haven’t won in what amounts to nearly one third of a season.

I think it’s admiration I have for the optimistic, I certainly wouldn’t attack them for it, however I am personally blind as to where this optimism comes from.

I notice Parish left his seat in the second half and wonder if he is about to discuss with his manager what the blazes is going on.

There were a few positives. The introduction of Riad was promising he looks fit and skilful and will make a short-term replacement for Guehi. When Sarr and Munoz get up to speed we should start getting goals but sadly Mateta is a hindrance and we should sell now and not over-price him.

Henderson was to blame for the penalty, can't blame Canvot. I am a Pinot admirer but his habit of overhitting free kicks is worrying.

If we don't pull ourselves together and lose the next 3 games we could be in trouble. Goodness knows how we'll survive the Conference play-offs which we needn't have had to play if the manager had fielded a full team against the Finns.
Maybe asking Glasner were they would like to go for another long dinner next week.

As I understand it, that consideration would affect the colour of card the defender might get, but it doesn't alter the rules of handball and it's hard to see how it could.
Ive given up trying to understand the rules anymore . When I used to play years ago everyone knew the score in what handball , offside , a foul was . Just as you get your head around whats what they bloody well change them again so they can add to the confusion .

I'm sure they do it on purpose so they can justify VAR

Now my stress levels have gone down a notch after the game Im thinking it was just a typical game v Chelsea . Always something against them that makes you feel like you have been done , and we was , good and proper

For anyone that didn’t see the Neto stamp in the first half.

It was naive of Sarr not to make an absolute meal out of it.

I simply cannot believe that the Referee was not instructed to go to the screen by VAR... It's as clear as anything and contact doesn't even need to be made for it to be violent conduct... Just the intent needs to be shown

To be fair to Sarr he probably didn't even realise what Neto had done . But the ref didn't think anything of it either and though there was obviously clear intent to 'leave something in there' as we used to say I don't think it was a sending off , maybe a caution at worse

As there are no RULES to Football, but, LAWS, you are correct in saying about the colour of the card, due to it being accidental, BUT, denying a goal scoring opportunity. The ball was going in, no matter how many different angles you look at.

By the letter of the law though it's a red card... Contact doesn't even need to be made just intent needs to be shown which clearly it was.
