Crystal Palace vs. Burnley match thread

I’ve tried to be measured with Glasner in recognition of his achievements last season.
I was even prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt during the bad run, believing we’d be fine when players returned.
However, it’s now evident to me that things are not right.
We haven’t played well for a couple of months and in truth didn’t really play well v a poor Brighton team even in winning.
Tonight was chaotic and not for one minute did I think the substitutions would work or that we would turn the game around.
It was poor management.
Another goal conceded from a set piece which we do nearly every game , and wide open to counter attacks which could easily have led to more Burnley goals.
We were static, our crossing was poor and there was little in the way of fluid pass and move.
It’s not just down to Glasner; our transfer policy has been poor .
We’ve ended up with 4 players - Sarr, Johnson, Guessand and Pino who all look more naturally right sided players and nobody who looks comfortable on the left.
The loss of Guehi has left our defence lacking organisation, covering pace and calmness.
I think the management has lost it’s way.
It's an inescapable conclusion to make given the empirical evidence.

It a collective shambles from top to bottom, so we can either rearrange the deckchairs on the Titanic and pray the lot below us are equally shambolic , or make the only substantive change available, i.e. the manager. That is the choice facing Parish, let's see which option he takes ....

I cannot find a full replay at present, but I had a suspicion the referee was caught out by having his back to play at the moment the Burnley player MAY have handled at the lead up to Burnley's second goal. You cannot give what you didn't see. Perhaps unfortunate for the ref and perhaps Palace too?

...... Whoops, no sorry, I'm wrong. He IS facing play at the time of the incident, albeit it is the left arm of the player, furthest from the ref's position.

I know they have totally lost there way. Very concerning. Selhurst was 1/3 empty five minutes from the end.

What worries me is that bouncebackability has gone with us. Under Glasner before you would back us to turn things round when going behind. It just seems deflated now.

Aslong as we stay up which we will, alongside playing in Europe, I think its a successful season, if we had this many points after this many games under hodgson, people would be asking for him to be knighted.
Maybe statistically rikz we are ok, but emotionally it's been a roller coaster watching the wheels come off our manager as we plunge downwards towards danger zone. Any manager talking publicly about his players the way Glasner did tonight is not doing his job right.

No, cos they had structure and kept their shape.

1st half tonight was 5-a-side at goals tactics with 11 players!!
And why does every other team seem more incisive than us? Three or four passes and they're looking to create a chance whereas we fiddle and fart about with pointless short passes before either over hitting a cross or losing possession. We might not have anyone who can hit the target from 18 yards but FFS it's a learnable skill; or you'd think so for professional footballers.

Reminds me a cricket game between Kent and the West Indies at the Beckenham ground; the Windies turned up an hour late because the shorter route they knew to the ground failed to take intp account the low railway bridge just before the Copers Cope junction at the Bell Green end.

Waiting for train at Selhurst for a train that never comes is like waiting for a midfielder to move off his marker

Absolutely administered s***

Have our players been structured in such a way that cannot free think to play flowing football anymore?

They stand like soldiers on their spot than move off a marker

How s*** are we Barnsley beat us !

Barnsley beat us at home
This is the main thing I bitch about every game. They make no attempt to move into any space further up the pitch and start an attack from midfield, unless its Wharton getting the ball and just clipping it into the box. When they do get it they pass and stand still, never any passing and moving. I've taken more notice of other teams to see if they do the same and haven't seen one yet this season. Its why all our passing is either backwards or constantly down the wings and I'd say its why we cant break teams down who sit back against us because there's just absolutely no passing and moving.

As much as I loath Notts forest, the owner has a cut throat ability of sacking managers when there is a bad sign. Parish needs to get rid of Glasner. He’s a palace fan Himself so he must feel The suffer.
Losing to Burnley at home is a result that is end of the road.

So glad it not just me seeing No movement- f***ing WALK football if we are fortunate but Wharton , Kamada just stand still from throw ins ! All the money per week to standstill FFS why can’t the manager see that most of this team can be a soldier at Buckingham palace - it’s like playing a game of Freeze - Is it player or coach ?

Im still pissed , as a ex defender 2-0 up with 6 mins left you close up shop and see the half out , there was no leadership on the pitch , letting 1 in before halftime is bad but 3 that is dam right criminal , there is nothing wrong with clearing the ball upto there half , keeps the clock ticking down , push them back , the way they worked together Sunday was light years away from the 40th minute last night ,

So is this the first time we have lost to all 3 promoted teams ? I can't think of any other season. We should really start to worry now as we seem to have a real lack of any sort of leadership on and off the pitch.

There was absolutely no leader on the pitch. In the form we are in and the situation we are in we cannot afford to have Kamada and Wharton in the middle, it has to be one or the other but then again any sane manger in our current situation makes a f***ing change to the system that is clearly no longer working.

Any one of us could have shut the door on Burnley and seen the half out. You don’t need to be an elite manager to see what we now need. We have players now that do not fit the system. No slight on Hendo but a keeper should not be captain.

At this point, Forest have sacked Dyche, that is basically because Frank is available and they want to get him before anybody else does. I am not saying we should go for him or Dyche but at least the fat prick at Forest acts. I can only imagine that SP is waiting to see if Glasner brings home the Conference Cup. But that is a dangerous game to be playing in our position.

I know Hughes is not Rodrey but f*** me he has to be in the middle to give us some steel from the start. We now have options for a decent from 3 and before Burnley’s hand ball goal it was the best we have looked up top for months. How nice to have a forward that actually looks like he will score when given the chance… and did.

But as many many others have said, our system has been found out and without MG we don’t have a world class covering defender that gets us out of half the situations we get ourselves in by being so weak in the middle of the park.

Just f***ing go 4 4 2 or better still get the want away fool out now. I am going to say it, right now I would take Dyche just to get some stability back and I never thought I would say that. May 17 is such a distant memory right now.

Guess no one knows. Bournemouth bought a big Brazilian for about half Johnson price. In his first game (substitute) he had an assist, in his two next games he both scored. And what have got from our 35 mill. buy from Spurs...?
Yep, this is the difference. We literally spent £35 on a wonky donkey. Looks like another waste of money along with our future ballon D'or winner and Pino. Did I miss anyone else?
