Crystal Palace vs. Burnley match thread

As has already been said, and I realise we're all venting- but the subs were baffling!
Guessand was enjoying a good little spell and Munoz had just put over 4 or 5 great crosses.
It was the wrong time to take either off.
Then to abandon any sort of shape was criminal.
It was like an U10 manager telling the boys to all have a go up front.
Yes you need an attacking threat, but you need a formation! It was the 72nd minute when Munoz and Kamada came off and the 83rd when Uche came on for Wharton. If it was the 95th minute, fair enough...but to go the last 15-20 minutes with a nonsense formation was nuts!
Palace! Why do you make it so difficult to love you??!!

Too many knee-jerk reactions on this thread. At 2-0, we were looking good but then complacency set in. We dominated possession but didn’t get the breaks. Nothing wrong with the system, nor the manager, but we do need a midfield general and a strong on-field captain.
The problem at this football club is Parish, he can not Manage transfers in and out or the run down of players contracts so they don’t move for free or for a peppercorn fee. If we are relegated it’s his fault!

A little perspective, perhaps. We looked good at both ends for 35 minutes – exceptionallly good considering how little the team has played together for the past 8 weeks, and we've lost our captain and best player. While Burnley was playing us straight up, we moved the ball well, controlled the game, and scored more easily than we've scored in months.

Then through 3 individual mental and effort mistakes we allowed Burnley to get the lead and set up a low block for the entire second half. Sarr, Johnson, Strand Larsen et al shouldn't be expected to break down a low block after only 10 days together.
Sorry, I disagree! Burnley had chances they didn’t take and never gave up as they knew our defence and midfield was open for them throughout the match. Larsen took his chances well but we through out the match made mistakes allowing Burnley to score three goals. We just weren’t tight enough and went gun ho all match. It was a poor unbalanced performance by us with no positives other than Larsen looking good in the first half? I don’t take that these players of ours haven’t played together for some time. It was another poor performance by us and that was for all the match with no balance or management of our team which was required even more at 2:0 up but never happened?

A 2 and a half months of where half our first team was out injured, sarr was in africa and we lost our captain. Leeds, Macclesfield and Burnley were the only terrible performances.
Oh FFS We lost to Sunderland , Spurs , drew with Villa , drew with a 10 man Forest lost 2 times to Fulham lost to neverton the list goess on , i think Glasner has been found out now mate

The players are going through the motions, hoping for the end of the season, it's so obvious - if the manager isn't concerned whether he's here or not (and why should he, he's going anyway) how can the players have the guidance necessary? In the second half Glasner was just making substitutions willy nilly hoping something would stick, he clearly hasn't got a clue of how to execute a game plan when things are going wrong, and can it be mere coincidence that the downturn started around the same time that he told Parish that he was off at the end of the season? It certainly hasn't got any better, and I do have to question when Parish will wake up to the reality of the situation.
There's some ability in this disparate group, and it needs a steady but strong hand to get them back on track. Since December that person hasn't been Glasner.

So you enjoyed our second half perfnace at Forest then? Maybe being 3 down at home to Chelsea floated your boat? Losing at home to Spurs (a team so bad they’ve just fired their manager) was to your liking? Surrendering at Sunderland without using a sub worked for you?

We are shite. Properly shite. We haven’t played well for months now. We have been bad at best.

All the players are back now and all the same problems remain. I am frankly amazed anyone is still making excuses for Glasner.

We're on 32 points after 26 games, 4 points behind Newcastle whos squad is worth about 700 million, while also playing in Europe for the first time, what do you want ? Where do you expect us to be ? Most fans on here have become entitled and unrealistic. We have the quality of a bottom half squad, we have the budget of a bottom half squad.

It's your job to explain it? Just f*** off so we can rebuild early instead of waiting for the summer

Come on SP just get rid you know it makes sense
"Honestly, I can't explain it, we gave the game away too easily and I really couldn't give a s***. We won't learn or do anything about it. I can't decide what excuses use this time around, so I'll just waffle abit then go home"

And replace him with who ?
At this stage I think literally almost anyone could do better. I think you would actually struggle to find a manager to actively make it worse than 5 points from 30 with that run of fixtures. If you just sent the players out and asked them to organise themselves I think you’d get better results. During that time Glasner hasn’t fixed anything. All the same problems are still there. He’s been comprehensively found out and clearly lost the ability to organise the players.

I am still completely baffled and pissed off with tonight. Can anybody explain why we spent £35 million on Johnson when that would have got a very good defender and then why we take off 2 players who were looking a threat yet leave Kamada on who is clearly (again). To up to speed.

Any other club. Any other manager. Gets sacked after this atrocious run of results. Like I said baffling.

You're the clown that was screaming for Dyche last season to replace glasner, who had an even worse record at Everton at the time and is now doing a great job at forest, you're clueless.
I am sorry, you and Grumpymort are in a class of yourselves 🤣

As someone correctly mentioned the other day, you don't go from scoring 15+ goals in the last 3 Premier League seasons and the winner in Europes second major club competition final....to bang average
(unless youre Clive Allen of who managed to hit 49 goals in a league season once, sandwiched in between single figure seasons, which he generally always achieved hence not being an England International)

Johnson is a decent striker who has consistently delivered. However, when he signed for the club, Glasner would have told him his plans that although he is waiting until the end of the season, he will be signing a new contract and perhaps fittingly after lifting a European title, which BJ obvs bought because he isn't signing for us if Ollie was honest with him by sayin "by the way chief once you've signed the contract, I will be confirming my resignation at the end of the season a week after you've signed. Oh, and we're going to sell our captain next week as well."

Just never in a billion years.

And that is why he looks pretty disinterested on the pitch, although very unprofessional
Of him.

I tried to put myself in a similar position with a new job and if I left a job I was satisfied at to go and work for someone who told me the same thing, I would be Hacked off and unmotivated.

And once there is one, there will be another and sadly melancholy in professional football clubs is, has and always will be prevalent.

Who knows, he may not have been the first one acting like it, he could well be 4th or 5th in an increasing line of despondent players at the club because of the situation with the coach who they clearly admire and perhaps feel has been let down by the board prior to the transfer splurge recently.

Please. I think it’s reasonable to expect us to take more than 5 points from 30 with the fixtures we’ve had and beat a team of semi pros in the cup. I don’t think expecting more than 1 win in 13 is being ‘entitled’ or unrealistic.

I could ask you what is the point where you think ‘no this isn’t good enough’. When we lose to Macclesfield? Clearly not. When we lose to Burnley at home? Doesn’t seem so. When we get relegated maybe?

Apart from we beat Fulham and drew at home, Tottenham we completely dominated, a draw away at villa is a decent result, any point away from home is a decent result in this league and beat brighton away from home who had only lost once at home this season.

Oh please mate, come on.

What do I expect? I expect us to beat Maccelsfield. I expect us to beat KuPS, I expect us to beat Burnley at home while being 2-0 up. I expect us to show abit of fight and determination against Leeds, against Forest, against Tottenham, against Larnaca. I expect the manager to effectively change a game with substitutions, use them wisely and have an idea of how to use said subs. Take Sunderland for example, he didn't use any. I couldn't give a rats ass about Newcastle. I dont think that is too much to ask is it?
