Crystal Palace vs. Brentford match thread

Really solid, professional performance and a great win.

The back three - exceptional. Any one of them could be POTM. Lerma very good, Kamada and Pino both decent games although some wayward passing and Mateta and Sarr constantly threatening. Dreamland!
Professional was the word. After the Sarr miss it seemed we moved into game management mode to keep our 2-0 lead. No-one had a poor match; it was a team performance which Glasner would have enjoyed. Difficult to pick a POTM - I voted for Lerma since IMO his two assists (his long throw for the o.g. was an assist in my book) made the difference and he generally was busy breaking up play and being a nuisance (a few misplaced passes but then he is Lerma, after all).

The '' set piece battle '' aside, I thought Palace played most of the decent football on offer and thoroughly deserved the win.

Brentford were very disappointing. Bitched and moaned all the way through the game. And seemed to rely on hoofball - reminded me of a sort of Wimbledon of the 80's lite. Credit to Palace for matching them physically, and I thought the own goal was an a great example of dying by the sword you live by !

My MOTM was Jeff Lerma - much more like his old self today, good to see.

I think it’s 10 starts/45 minutes during a game.
Can’t see him getting them, from what I’ve seen of him so far , he likes laying down and holding his leg.
Panic loan by the look of it. “Get a big strong looking black fella that can replace JPM”
He don’t look like it. Unfortunately
Long way to go till end of season. He can still come good

Glasner said with Afcon that both Sarr and Uche could miss 8 games.

That's a big chunk of games and I'm not sure Uche will start a game before Afcon.

This would mean he'd have to start 10 games between January and the end of the season to trigger the obligation to buy ( if the stories of such arrangement are correct).

At most at present he's getting a few mins and is a last resource substitute.

Things can change quickly , but not if he's getting little time on the field and if out of position players are preferred as substitutions when they are made.

If he’s good enough, I hope he gets the games and is signed.
Poor deal from his parent club, if we back him. Bet Parish has got his receipt somewhere safe 🤣

I think we will see a lot of game management in the coming months as we try to conserve energy for the next fixture . Once the game is as good as won its how its going to be I'm afraid ,it will make for some dull second halves thats for sure .

bit like yesterday actually. The way next weekend's fixtures are with teams above us playing each other we could go in to the break in a very lofty position if we can beet the weed.

Uche will agitate to leave soon enough. So it will be a moot point.

If it means we are winning games and energy is conserved I have absolutely no issue with this.

Anyone know the score with Kamada?

Not sure if he went off injured, or if that sub was being prepared as he went down
I'm not sure myself. My reading of the situation was that Brentford had just won a set-piece situation in a dangerous position for putting the ball into the box and if Kamada had stayed on he'd have had to spend 30 seconds on the sidelines owing to having received treatment before he could return. During that time we could have been found short in defence so the subs who were due to come on shortly were made immediately so as to have 11 players on the pitch to defend the set-piece.

Yeah I thought it was a just case of Hughes ready to come on anyway, and he wasnt making much of a drama of it. But I guess thats not really his game.
