CPFC v Millwall Match Thread

Good to hear that Mateta is out of hospital and feeling better.

If that kick had landed more squarely I fear it would have been much worse.
The damage that would have done doesn't bear thinking about. If there's any consolation it's that we only have Ipswich and Southampton before Brighton on 5 April if he's fit enough to play by then.

A shocking challenge, utterly out of control and frankly how Oliver needed more than one replay of that I will never know. Sums up his standard of reffing. Tosser.
I don't really have a problem with him checking....angles and the speed of play.
In pre-VAR days he would have had the linesman.
He was always going to come to the right decision given Mateta was out cold.

I honestly did not realize how scummy millwall fans were till after today. I always thought it was something everyone said just because they are millwall.

I couldn’t see any attempt by the Millwall keeper to get to the ball, in slow motion JPM nudges the defender to one side and he is actually a foot or so off the ground as well when doing so. The goalkeeper is leading with his foot so serious foul play to start with, I can see a greater punishment coming his way.

You can bet your life if it was JPM committing this against the keeper the FA would throw the book at him. This distracted and ended Millwalls chance of going any further in the competition and I bet there are many that are happy about that.

So Eddie gets his chance for a couple of games and I thought he was great when he came on, the Millwall defence couldn’t handle him and what a brilliant controlled finish with that header….

The BBC should be banned from covering football. Their technology is way below par. Their commentators, interviewers, and their female presenters (the majority) are way below standard.
Their visual coverage today was totally unacceptable. It was near impossible to see anything going on that was in the shadow. Even streaming channels outdo them these days. Pathetic.
The one that interviewed Parish just didn't get the severity of the incident and the effect it was having on everybody. She was intent on swerving it and keeping it all happy happy. Parish rightly so outmanoeuvred her superbly.
Was watching MOTD highlights, first game Bournemouth v Wolves. Had to turn it off because of the woman commentator screeching. Honestly it was so bad, like fingers nails dawn a chalk board. Who the f*** wants this?

As for there live feed yesterday, agreed, could not see a thing and the overall presentation was dreadful.

I can imagine at the pre-match team talk the clown Millwall manager stressing that "Mateta is their danger man, Mateta must be stopped" with a big picture of Mateta on the screen just in case they weren't sure, and the message slowly seeping into the fukwit keeper's brain to the point that on the field of play he saw the opportunity to enact a fantasy of his.
What I see is deliberate foul play - their aren't many examples of a keeper charging out of his box, and then flying foot first at head height into the onrushing player; it's not exactly out of the manual, and I hope that he gets a lengthy ban at the very least.

We put in a decent first half performance , but in the second half I felt that we got drawn into the way Millwall wanted to play the game rather than playing our own game.

While he doesn’t have the physical presence and all round game of JPM, at least Nketiah looks more at home playing down the middle.
He had a goal disallowed, a few efforts on target blocked as well as his very good headed goal.
He looks sharp, but we’ll have to slightly amend our game in JPM’s absence.

Chilwell looked progressive going forward and got into some promising positions.
Unlike Mitchell though I can’t say that ‘he loves defending’ .
Good options to have I suppose.

I hope it’s Preston at home in the next round.
Got a strange feeling it could be Villa again though!

That kind of play needs stamping out. If we let it go without added punishment beyond a red card it will show our football hierarchy are dead in the water. All I can assume is that ref Oliver had the sun in his eyes. How could he possibly have missed that. 25 STITCHES ??? Come on.
We have done well to massively reduce over the ball challenges, but 6 foot high kung fu kicks that studs first hit a player square on the head causing 25 stitches .........NO..... absolutely no way.
Imagine if that had been a midfield player with that challenge. No difference, it was outside the penalty area. (no difference inside the penalty area) That goalkeeper must have a screw loose. There is no other explanation.
Delighted Mateta was released from hospital last night following extensive testing, but no player should have to end up in hospital from an aggressive challenge in the first place. We have to set a standard to stop this type of incident. A lengthy ban is needed.

BBC dont film the matches at Premier grounds its done by Premier league cameras and sold all around the world to other broadcasters, so the technology is nothing to do with the BBC. The banal presenters is totally down to their woke agendas, every match covered now has to have a women on camera, why when they are clueless is baffling.

Has anyone seen Joey Barton's comment, via X, on this? I won't post a link but he says he didn't think it was a foul and after all it's a physical game.
Only to a part-time thug who's desperately trying to stay in the public eye.

I thought that when (when) the ground is redeveloped there will be new positions for cameras and commentators. As much as I hate the BBC I think the problem is ours rather than theirs.

Disgusting thing to say.
Firstly Millwall fan. Very low bar.

Secondly he's right about the old days. I remember seeing a film of a keeper taking a cross. He caught it fairly but the striker- from a flying run up - charged directly at the keeper who careered into the goal still holding the ball. Not only was the player not booked, but the goal stood!
