CPFC v Man Utd 1972

A couple of years before my time, but I’ve obviously watched it plenty of times. Sadly I just missed seeing Don Rogers and Jacko live.

Even back then man. Utd’s demise ending in eventual relegation was amusing, it’s a shame we can’t be that lucky these days
 
I was there in the Arthur. A wonderful day which should be marked with a combined Rio carnival and Munich beer festival.
 
I was, but seem to remember most were scored at the Whitehorse Lane end. Mulligan and Rogers each got a couple IIRC
Of course that was a hollow triumph as we still went down once Allison took over. How he kept his job after us getting 4 points in 15 games to start the next year beggars belief

And Alan Whittle got the other one on his debut.
 
I was standing in the Holmesdale. In a good Christmas mood before it started and over the moon at the end. In fact just as I feel after devouring the Weed yesterday!
 
I was there in the Arthur. We had some great days that year but somehow ended up relegated. Spent the Sainsburys money on Rogers, Whittle, Possee, Phillip? and Mulligan I think.
 
i was in the main stand enclosure with a couple of work mates.
just remenmber Don Rodgers - Powering up the pitch - unstoppable.
One of my best (certainly better) Palace moments.
Was that really 52 years ago !
 
I remember going to Selhurst for the last game of the season 1991 against Man U. It was almost exactly a year after we'd lost to them in the FA Cup Final replay (yes replay).

We were 3-0 up, Palace were all over United, the atmosphere was incredible.
Now I've googled this to see if there's any mention of it and I can't find anything. But Ian Wright swapped shirts with Nigel Martin and went in goal for the last 5 or 10 minutes and sent Nigel up front.

I don't know why this seems to not be part of our history.

Or had I had too much to drink?
 
I was there, in the Arthur. I probably thought supporting Palace would always be like that. But even now, the highs, however occasional they may be, make the lows bearable.
 
I was stood on the Holmesdale. A memorable match although to put things into perspective, United were a shadow of their former selves by then and were relegated the following season. In some ways the 5-1 victory over Sheffield United a year earlier was more impressive as they were up around the top of the table when we played them, having been on a great run until then.

I think we all left that match believing that this would be the start of a climb up the table to safety.

The Sainsburys money went into Ray Bloyes back pocket, and it was years later.....early 80s. Indeed Bloye got one over on Ron Noades there.

2 up at half time with Paddy Mulligan scoring both down that end.

United couldn't cope with Don Rogers in the second half and he scored 2 memorable goals.

It still annoys me that Brian Moore described one of his goals as "in a way, doing a Pele". Except Pele missed his chance and the Great Don scored.
