CPFC v Man Utd 1972

I was there, standing in the Holmesdale end. What made it all the better is that I had taken a pal who was a Manure fan with me! He was one of the plastics, didn't go to many matches, so I was thrilled he had chosen this one. I tried to be nice and sympathetic, of course, but need down I was going "Yessss!"

I was there with my dad and brother in the main stand enclosure. Palace couldn’t stop scoring goals. New boys Rogers whittle cooke mulligan n Phillip.wonderful afternoon. And typical palace immediately followed up w 2 relegations on the bounce. 52 years ago. One of the greatest days in my palace times.

I was in the Old Stand Enclosure. Got there at 1 o'clock so got right down the front (must've been 12/13 years old) and remember it as being a really misty, overcast and damp day. It was sizzling warm by 20 to 5 though.
I remember hearing that it was being shown on Swedish TV, which seemed wondrous to me at the time.

I remember each of the goals clearly even now (probably helped by watching it every time it comes on The Big Match Revisited) and also remember the Brian Moore commentary..."could it be 5? It IS 5!"

It can be a long time between drinks but it's days like that (and Sunday just gone) that keep me renewing my season ticket every year despite stating that I won't.

I was there. Standing in the Arthur by the half way line. A fantastic day as was the Apres match in The Ship, South Norwood. Happy Days!
You must be a bit older than me hythemac, as I wasn't old enough to celebrate in a pub! But I was probably standing quite near you as I was down the front, just to the left of the halfway line in the Arthur. I was one of those with a noisy rattle & homemade scarf. What a day!

I was there, standing behind the goal at the Holmsdale end with my dad. I'd just turned 12. I remember asking dad why George Best was not playing. He just said that he was out on the p@#s 😆 . It was a great day made even better going to school and giving it to my plastic mates who supported manure, but had never seen them play.😆

I was in the middle of the Homesdale. The United started chucking bits of brick at us from the west side.
Hard to believe now that there was rubble all round the back of the Homesdale inside the ground.
How times have changed.
I remember Whittle's goal going in at the Homesdale. Fifth one as I recall. Top corner from the edge of the box. And Don Rogers had his scoring boots on. Got two I think. What a day.
