Brighton - Tactics required

They always cause us problems at set pieces so let's see how we handle Dunk. If we put a small blocker like Wharton on him it almost certainly won't work.

Tracking the runners is vital - players like Hinshelwood are very forward thinking - when he scored that header a couple of seasons ago he walked (and it was a walk) about 30 yards into our area without anyone even attempting to go with him (think the culprit was Jeff Schlupp).

Seeing how easily and unchallenged Munoz was last weekend whenever he went forward does not bold well.

Having said that we were compact against Leeds so a similar set up might work
Dunk will be the least of our problems (if he plays). That Vuscovic that they mugged Spuds for is looking like a class player. However, Dunk really hates us and so they might play him just to add a bit of spite...

This sounds obvious and the reality will be much more complex, but an awful lot of The Scum's goals this year look to come from wide areas. Take their European match in the week for example: first three goals were directly targeting the opposition right back. The fourth was a cross from the left to the back post from open play.

We simply must cut off the supply of crosses from open play and deal with the first and second balls when the crosses do come in.

Finally, on transition the back 3/5 need to drop as a unit rather than one of the centre halves being pulled out of position up the pitch (Richards has been caught this way several times this year) without the wing back on the other side tucking in.

I think if we can get these things right we'll be in with a chance. We've shown we can do it at Leeds. We need another Leeds performance where this time we take our chances.

This all seems very sound and logical.

I daresay we'll do none of this and be 2-0 down before I even open the app, but if not then I will know Sage read your ideas.

He / the lads got it right at Leeds. We also won the second half 1-2 in Lyon.

I find it frustrating we are not putting many performances in for a full 90 minutes but I remain optimistic Sage will get it right. Let's hope that starts this weekend.

We don't play football at the right tempo for most of the game and then put on the "B team" for the last 15 minutes. I really do hope Sage gets it right on Sunday but we can't keep depending on "luck" to get us across the line. No disrespect to Adam but we need a leader on the pitch ... and we need a striker!
