Bilal El Khannouss

You may be right, but I suspect some posters may be able to pick holes in the argument highlighted.

For me, I am nostalgic for that first half season that earned him his call-up, made him PoTY and meant there was never a chance in hell he would play for us again.

If he could bring that back.

For just one season...
I think Palace fans have too many nostalgic thoughts about former players.

We need people who can pass the ball and link play. Running around like a headless chicken won't cut it under a coach like Glasner.

He was one of chelsea's best players the season before he left and was also captain for some games.

Chelsea sold him due to psr, as he was a homegrown player.

And it's not like he moved to a c'ship club, he did join spain's 3rd biggest club for £50m!!
They sold him because he is not Champions League quality.

My son supports Chelsea, and he knows their team a lot better than me. He does not rate Gallagher.
I agree. He is an energy player, but his skill level is low.
If we could get him for peanuts to sit on the bench then fine, but we won't.

If he was that good, he's still be at Chelsea.

He would be a bench player and would not be worth the money.
As Erith says below, Chelsea sold him because the was pure profit as a player from their own Academy and they needed the money. There is also the small matter that Chelsea had forked out squillions on Caicedo and Fernandes.

Having said that, I'm in two minds as to whether I would want him back - he had a great first half of the season but was pretty average thereafter.

They didn't. Chelsea have made plenty of money from sales.
You don't sell players who will be part of your plans going forward if you are Chelsea.

Same as Chalobah. He makes too many mistakes. I wouldn't want him back either, unless it was as a bench player.

Conor Gallagher is likely joining Spurs- or if not then Newcastle. There’s little chance of seeing him in a Palace shirt again
Given the quoted reason for him moving in from Chelsea and AM is lack of starts AND we have a World Cup year and he’ll want to want to be in the shop front window ,

Which team do you think gives him the best chance of being a regular starter ?

Palace ,
Newcastle
Or Spurs .

I think he’s be automatic starter with Adam Wharton and the Tuchel will be spending
Time watching them …

If he genuinely enjoyed his time here ( and he appeared to ) , with Glasner as manager , I think we have a good chance .

He’s only 25 . He becomes our highest wage earner. Realistic release fee and he’s still got the time and talent to be a key player at a big club , or he helps us transition to the next step in the EPL .

Seems realistic to me .😎

Would I be happy to have CG in the squad. Absolutely.

Would we be able to afford his transfer fee and wages. Absolutely not.

Back to Bilal.
There’s always new money each season . If we bring in cheaper replacements for Eze and Guehi , we’d have the money and from
The reports out there we have made an offer along with Spurs and Newcastle . Supposedly it’s up CG to decide

If Gallagher becomes our highest wage earner at his level of ability then that is going to agitate key players in the squad. As mentioned before, great first half the season in a different system for Palace but not so great there after. For the expected cost of transfer and salary, personally i wouldn't go for him.

But obviously the Palace internal team will know a little bit more than me about who to get and why for our system.

Gallagher is not as good as Eze, but the notion that he's not good enough for us is hilarious. Like Olise before him, we are unlikely to find a like for like Eze replacement.

However, if we find someone in the mould of Sarr, who is whilst isn't as good as Olise, does a fantastic job in his role, then we'll be fine.

I do think, however that Gallagher's best position is CM, and we don't need to bring anyone in for that position with Hughes/Kamada/Wharton/Lerma holding down that position.

They also sold Salah, De Bruyne and Guehi. They sold him because he was an academy player and therefore, pure profit, when trying to hit FFP targets.

Don't think there's a chance in hell he comes here again but the idea that he's not good enough is madness.

He was good for half a season with us. What else has he done since then?

Done enough for Chelsea to earn 20 England caps, earn a move to one of the biggest clubs in Spain and for the Chelsea fans to be disappointed that he left. Played Champions League football, helped Atletico win 14 games in a row en route to finishing 3rd etc. What are you looking for?

Sarr was every bit as good as Olise last season and started well again this season. Anyway as this thread is about El Khannouss, no doubt someone else will come in and buy him due to our tight wad board not wanting to splash the cash as usual

Sarr was a great replacement but is nowhere near as good as Olise. Be realistic... Olise was nominated for Ballon d'Or in his first season away from us!
