Nothing against Ipswich but it's a bit disappointing that they can show themselves as a more appealing prospect for players, not to mention their apparent spending power.Ipswich have beaten Everton to the signing of Villa's Jayden Philogene so maybe they are ready to drop their interest in Doak.
I think Ipswich were in for Philogene when he was at Hull and before Villa exercised their buy-back option so, this sale is not much of a surprise.Nothing against Ipswich but it's a bit disappointing that they can show themselves as a more appealing prospect for players, not to mention their apparent spending power.
That's fair enough but if we were both after Doak you'd hope we, or London at least, would be a more attractive choice.I think Ipswich were in for Philogene when he was at Hull and before Villa exercised their buy-back option so, this sale is not much of a surprise.
You are well informed.I think Ipswich were in for Philogene when he was at Hull and before Villa exercised their buy-back option so, this sale is not much of a surprise.
I think that shows the power of persistence. Everton are a bigger club but Ipswich have been chasing him for a while and it looks like they really want him. This is where Dougie comes good we often hear that he has been tracking a player and talking to them for a while*.I think Ipswich were in for Philogene when he was at Hull and before Villa exercised their buy-back option so, this sale is not much of a surprise.
As was Wharton choosing us above Chelsea at that stage of his career.I think that shows the power of persistence. Most of us assume that players are greedy and go for the money and the prestige of a bigger club. However I think we often underestimate the power of being wanted. Villa bought him back but it seem seems like as a squad player. I suspect Ipswich have told him he will get game time and support from the club and fans.
If he had gone to Everton he might have got lost amongst their other players, at Ipswich he will be one of their star men as long as he performs.
*Olise being an obvious example.
London = Gangsta’s Paradise….That's fair enough but if we were both after Doak you'd hope we, or London at least, would be a more attractive choice.
Whats Croydon ? 😕London = Gangsta’s Paradise….
Correct, Olise was 8m, Eze 13m, big differenceI'm not sure that Doak is worth anywhere near £30 million right now.
Wasn’t Eze more like £17m. Wharton was also £18m with add ons up to £22m. £30m is still a lot more than that but then I suppose Doak is already an international and is coming from Liverpool which is a bit different to any of Olise, Eze or Wharton when we signed themCorrect, Olise was 8m, Eze 13m, big difference
True, but, who would you rather have?Wasn’t Eze more like £17m. Which, it would appear, is precisely what we have done.I think we're wasting our time with Liverpool. They seem to have negotiators who think they're Arthur Daly's always trying to hussle a few more quid.
£22m is tops for this guy or we should merrily walk away.
Mods please move to Comedy Gold 🙄If Liverpool accept £22mil then we might well say 'okee Doak'. 😕
