Ashes cricket

Win toss, bat for 2 days, play test cricket, only hit balls that are straight, second innings in Perth we got out to balls that were missing off stump playing horror shots.

This is too obvious. Will never happen.

I'm not averse to Bazball, I just wish they would read the match situation better and know when to reign it in.

Australia have never been defeated in a pink ball match on their own soil.

Starc has a ridiculous average with the pink ball. We were under-prepared as a whole, never mind for a pink ball Test.

Oh and surprise, surprise Mark Wood is injured / rested after bowling only 11 Overs in the First Test. Will Jacks replaces him for the Second.

Robin Smith has died. He was a brave and aggressive batsman whose last few years were unfortunately a real struggle with alcohol and depression.

RIP.
Terrible news, there was an interview with Robin in the paper the other day talking about how he missed his Hants colleague Shane Warne, I got the impression that he'd beaten one of his deamons.

There appears to be something about cricketers having such problems particularly depression.

62 is no age, he was a fine sportsman.

Unfortunately not just cricketers, people from all sorts of sports.

I doubt any of us can understand the life of a professional sports person. Probably from childhood they have been focused on achieving their goal to the exclusion of many other things. Then they have a career of around 15 years at the top where they are lauded by the public and suddenly it's all over.

What do you do with your life then? Not everyone can be a Sky pundit or a journalist.

My guess is that those people who struggle with what to do after sport are the ones that struggles with mental health issues.

RIP

There really does, particularly among batsmen. Graham Thorpe and Peter Roebuck come to mind as well as David Bairstow and the well known problems experienced by Trott and Trescothick among others.

Boycott is depressive and decided to spread it.
