AEK Larnaca Predictions.

Relax,

The grandson's primed and ready with the drone and some left over Christmas crackers in case the roar from the Holmesdale doesn't unsettle 'em.

It's just a formality on the long road to Leipzig for the mighty Palace and we'll win easily this time.
In fact, I'm so confident that I just bet my pocket money on Wharton finally scoring, not sure if that includes own goals though 🤔

Up the Crippled Alice!!!

I thought and said in a different post that both sets of fans and probably both sets of players/staff would be happy with the draw.

They've drawn first blood by beating us in the league phase.

But we are more experienced already in European football, have new signings who in some cases like JSL are already bedded in and are much better on paper (yes, I know the game is played on grass - or something synthetic if you are in Macclesfield - and not paper). Over two legs we should come out on top.

So I think they'll be a tough nut to crack and it will not be easy, but we will win. 3-1 over the two legs. 2-0 tonight and a draw in the second leg.

JSL and one of the forwards - I'll say Pino - to score.
I hope we score several tomorrow night too

We will have to play a lot better than when we lost to them last time, gifting them a goal and failing to defeat a park-the-bus tactic, as we failed to do against Burnley. The second half against 10 man Spurs doesn't inspire much confidence either.

On the plus side Lacroix will be back for CL matches and if the forwards can get attuned to Wharton's killer passes then all will be well but at least a two goal advantage will be needed in Cyprus.
Watch the highlights of that game again, we battered them and somehow wasted all our chances. Absolutely ridiculous we lost that game

For those going tonight its going tobe tough the hope of good football doubt it , winds gusting at 45mph with lows of 20+ is conditions I hated playing in , and I'm sure the players will feel the same .
reckon alot of long range shots could be happening so defending deep isnt going to help .
we come out with 2 -0 result I'm happy.
we could find gaps in there defence if we score from distance , we need our strikers following up any shots hoping for rebound

What odds did you get Sansom?

For some reason, I think Palace will give a good account of themselves. I reckon there might be a few AEL Larnaca players wondering whether to stay in Croydon after the game as things are heating up around the Gulf.
One look at Thornton Heath should send them running for the airport

2-0 Palace win
Players not so much, but fans maybe! A quick layover on Dingwall Road, then onwards to Harringey more likely 😂

The last goal Wharton scored was back in January 2024 when Blackburn drew 1-1 at home to Huddersfield.Lee Nicholls was in goal for the visitors.

Think the game will all depend upon whether we can put away first half chances. We usually always create decent early opportunities in the European games but fail to bury them. This then usually results in the opposition growing in confidence and us looking more vulnerable to the counter attacks as we lose all structure as we desperately throw bodies forward trying to make a break through. AZ was the only European game where we were clinical... But let's hope for a repeat of that this evening.
