AEK Larnaca Predictions.

We will have to play a lot better than when we lost to them last time, gifting them a goal and failing to defeat a park-the-bus tactic, as we failed to do against Burnley. The second half against 10 man Spurs doesn't inspire much confidence either.

On the plus side Lacroix will be back for CL matches and if the forwards can get attuned to Wharton's killer passes then all will be well but at least a two goal advantage will be needed in Cyprus.

I don’t really think of Shrublands as being part of Shirley to be honest, it’s pretty much it’s own thing isolated from anywhere. It’s kind of like Addington’s conjoined twin that’s just a head.
It is in Shirley though. Back in the day it was a great friendly place. Back in 1977 for the silver jubilee all the garages were full of tables and parties. Literally 100s of kids and families.
Now it’s like Beirut , shame really.

This is a tricky game for us, low block for them, lots of passing across the centre backs, and if we score they wont attack as its two legs, lets hope we don't muck it up.

1-0 Palace, we’ll win but unconvincingly. We’ll continue to miss Munoz who never really came back from his first injury. Wharton with a bit of quality putting through one of our front three will be the difference.

Harsh on Beirut, which is a lovely place, unlike Shrublands.

That's very harsh on Beirut

Correct Lanzo.

The scoreline may not look glamorous, but I still predict it will be 2-4 goals to Palace and 0-2 goals for Larnaca over two legs, with us going through.

Never know, we may run riot with new found confidence, but it's a very uncomfortable couple of games.

I remember when Shirley Heights won the Derby, guy I played cricket with liked a topical bet, and he was married to a Shirley.

I thought and said in a different post that both sets of fans and probably both sets of players/staff would be happy with the draw.

They've drawn first blood by beating us in the league phase.

But we are more experienced already in European football, have new signings who in some cases like JSL are already bedded in and are much better on paper (yes, I know the game is played on grass - or something synthetic if you are in Macclesfield - and not paper). Over two legs we should come out on top.

So I think they'll be a tough nut to crack and it will not be easy, but we will win. 3-1 over the two legs. 2-0 tonight and a draw in the second leg.

JSL and one of the forwards - I'll say Pino - to score.
