A sense of perspective ( or the deluded optimist thread)

It’s difficult to keep a sense of perspective after two consecutive miserable defeats against in truth two fairly average teams, but here goes.

1) We have only lost a handful of Premier League games this year which is quite a record.
2) A stat was flashed up on the TV today that only Haaland and Salah has scored more goals than Mateta this calendar year, which is remarkable for a Palace player.
3) I wouldn’t swap our back 3 for any defence in the Premier League.
4) We have the best attacking right back in the league and one of the best goalkeepers.
5) We have one of the best defensive left backs in the league
6) Even in the games that we have lost, we have never been dominated and have always been in games.

With success, expectations rise so inevitably there is some sense of disappointment and anger.
There has been some evidence of this in Glasner who in a very positive way is a sore loser as he expresses in his polite Austrian manner.
There’s not that much wrong that a couple of good results won’t put right.

Is it too early to say we can do well in the Prem or we can do well in Europe but if we try and do both we’ll get neither?
No it isn't.
Realistically there are three teams worse than us so unless relegation becomes a serious proposition Europe should be the target. Does it really make any difference if we finish 11th or 15th? Compared to a European trophy it doesn't for me.
