Crystal Palace vs. Nottingham Forest match thread

Palace apparently to be investigated with regard to the banner. Notts Forest have complained that we didn’t criticise the banner, no doubt it was the super grass Marinakis phoning in from Greece.

What a thoroughly odious club.

We could just tell them how badly run we are so haven't managed to

Looks like even their forums are scared of any posts of the banner, they must know how precious the fat shitbag is.

Plus
"Forest are furious about a potentially libelous banner and will be following it up with the FA" According to Radio Nottingham.

Oh what a surprise, Forest calling the lawyers already 🤣

Flaggers, clue's in the name, knows his stuff when it comes to Tifo, what can and cannot be posted to avoid being sued for libel, and generally just not being a knob.

Be interesting to see if the Big Man or MGW take it further.

Your whingefest is over, time Palarse, both Chairman and some of the fanbase, grew up and focused on the league.

"Whingefest" over? You clearly don't know much about CPFC. There are still people bitter about Johnny Byrne leaving.

Only Brighton fans say Palarse because they can't go five minutes without mentioning arses. You've been rumbled! Not even a Notts Forest fan 😂

Kudos for flying under the radar for so long. Everyone just thought you were a bell end, didn't realise you were a Brighton bell end!
I think you'll find it was spelt Brighton Belle.

Fans better not chant that in a UEFA game they are know for punishing people when fans chant.

I find it childish as well at end of day it was our own fault.
You didn’t hear it at the Fredrikstad game? It was going for most of the game. UEFA didn’t say anything about it.

There is maybe one part that can be, kinda, put at Palace’s feet, and that’s to do with the info@cpfc mail account not being overly attended to. Other than that, the discrepancies in the laws and how they’re implemented for different clubs is not on Palace, that’s on UEFA… and Evangelos writing a letter to UEFA asking them to dig into Palace is not on Palace, that’s on Don Evangelos.

Why didn't thr big fella take Parish to court over the comments that brought you lot into this ? Maybe because he was right...

You won a court case (well done, kudos to you), we won the FA cup, i know what id rather have!

We may just have to endure Kamada in the starting 11 until we get a quality replacement in for Eze. I'd rather give Esse a string of games personally...but either way, hopefully a quality replacement in soon.

Hughesy MOTM yet again. He really is top draw, isn't he.

Oh f*** off with your constant threats with lawyers, Notts Forest have ultimately shown themselves up in the past few season to be complete bellends and hypersensitive thin skinned whiners.

If only your fans had an ounce of integrity, you'd have quite a lot more speak up about how you've conducted yourselves.

I'm looking forward to Willo's defence of the referee for booking Mitchell for supposedly time wasting at a throw in, and for giving a foul against Hughes for a perfectly executed tackle when he won the ball cleanly.
Now I only saw these in real time, so may have missed something!
Even the revered Collina has commended him

Devenny has been getting stick again, I still don't get this. He can't replace Eze so any comparisons are meaningless. He is trying to learn a new role under the full glare of the PL hype.

What he lacks in "magic" he makes up for in energy and this should not be underestimated. He kept the Forest defence busy yesterday which helped his team and took pressure off our defence. Yes he made some mistakes but he didn't let us down.

Glasner trusts him because he does the simple things well and plays to team orders, that is good enough for me.

It's not his fault that we don't have an oven ready replacement. Esse came on and had some nice touches but didn't really have an impact on the game. Again he is still learning and we can only hope he gets better. A run out this Thursday would be ideal.

In the meantime I hope the boo boys lay off.

Justin worked his nuts off yesterday, when he came off he was shattered - he is still a work in progress but I thought he did bloody well considering the situation & will only get better.

The two roles either side of Mateta require goals and assists, ideally both around double figures.
Eze and Sarr provide(d) that.

Devenny and Esse, at least at the moment, can't provide this.

In his post match conference Glasner was at pains to outline the need for 'efficiency ' from these positions, and seemed confident that it will be addressed in the window.
Aside from Mateta, Sarr and occasionally Munoz we don't have goals from open play through the rest of the current team, so the contribution from the Eze replacement is likely to be crucial.

With regard to Devenny he received a very good reception when substituted yesterday and played his part in the game.
However, it would be unfair to expect him to make the same attacking impact as Eze. He'll have a role to play this season.

Remember the miners strikes ? Integrity, don’t make me laugh.

Your first point about Devenney is fine, your second about Esse is not. We can't go on with Devenney in that position, Esse needs to learn it and he's only going to get that with game time.

Notts Forest brought on a lot of fresh legs too, the pressure wasn't a surprise. JP had a very hard time with both centre backs, each of which he got booked they fouled him so much.

I agree but I suspect that Ollie's thinking is keep it tight with Devenney and then bring Esse on in the hope that he can work his magic with a tired defence.

Game time is always an issue with young players.

If there is a plus from the current situation it’s that Devenney and Esse are getting game time. If I’ve been disappointed in any aspect of Ollie’s management it’s been his reluctance to play younger players. I appreciate it’s a risk and we rarely find ourselves 3 goals up so that he can have the luxury. I feel for Devenney a bit because playing wide left is not his natural position. He did make a few promising runs into space in the first half but didn’t get his crosses in. He’s more suited to 6 than 10 I think although if he continues to get minutes he will improve.
Esse did well enough. He’s played no competitive football other than a brief painful episode against Liverpool for which he was punished very severely. It was nice to see Will Hughes have a quiet word in his ear when he came on.
On the subject of Will, he was MOTM by a distance. He’s a true eagle who gives everything for the team. He’s probably the only player in our current team who is absolutely content playing for Palace. When Guehi finally goes I can’t think of anyone better to take on the captain’s armband.
