Crystal Palace vs. Nottingham Forest match thread

God no.....no one deserves suffering like that.

Southgate especially.....I couldn't take it.

I'd have to forget about Palace until he left.
Southgate was perfect for England as a PR face at rhe tip of a bloody big coaching spear but is no club manager

Glasner will be replaced by a like achiever from the continent. Somebody lifting trees from eg Young Boys or whoever is achieving way beyond expectations.

It's not rose tinted to say Eze would have made more of the 4 great positions that Devenny had in the first half.
Not a criticism of the diligent and committed Devenny , but Arsenal will not be spending £60 + million on him.

Our squad is not strong enough and if Devenny has to continue in that left sided attackng role after the window the board will have failed.
I know Eze has gone, but it's not rose tinted to observe that Eze (or proper replacement) may well have made a difference today.
Once Kamada is back (probably this Thursday) Devenny can revert to his midfield position as an option off the bench.

We will get a player for the 10 position - OG was very confident of that in the post-match presser.

Flags and banners
We will do our best to accommodate requests for
flags and banners to be brought into the stadium, but
there is limited space for them to be displayed.
Supporters wishing to bring a flag or banner should send
their request to Clive Mitchell, clive.mitchell@cpfc.
co.uk, along with a full description and photograph
(where possible) at least seven days before the game.

Mr Mitchell must have seen nothing wrong then.

A few observations on today. Firstly we saw a pattern which will be repeated for much of this season unless the club pulls off a number of significant surprises before the end of the transfer window, which was that a workmanlike Palace, lacking flair, fought hard and were competitive until they ran out of legs after 75 minutes. That is inevitable having lost Zaha, Olise, and Eze in consecutive seasons, and with a squad not only madly thin on numbers but also now unbalanced without enough attacking creativity.

Secondly the farce of football rules was there for all to see. Forest's owner was not in attendance as he went to watch Olympiakos, one of other teams he owns, whilst Palace are no longer partially owned by Textor, whose 25% voting rights led Palace to fall foul of the multi-club ownership rules. Yet it is Palace who have been removed from the Europa League in favour of Forest due to multi-club ownership rules. The further farce is that Forest, who have spent living fortunes in the previous 2 transfer windows, brought on as substitutes at least 3 players who are this summer's signings, who would have walked into Palace's starting eleven. We had 2 goalkeepers and brought on Edouard (who actually did okay in his brief cameo). Are both clubs subject to the same financial rules ? Are they measuring them in the same way ? Farcical.

Well done to OG and the squad for earning a point in these circumstances, but the day overall did not improve my mood - might have to change my posting name to Miserable Git instead.

It’s not rose tinted to say Eze MAY have made a difference. It is to say he WOULD have.

Well done Palace. A good result after a tough week.

Must admit I was dreading the game somewhat with our paper thin squad up against Forest who seem to be signing a new player every day (how can they afford this under FFP?!)

Was expecting a defeat with their fans rubbing it in our face all game, but we didn’t get a peep out of them.

Glasner showed what a well drilled and motivated team he’s built to grind out results.

Esse showed some creativity when coming on which is something we sorely missed. We need him to step up now and I hope he gets more game time in the coming weeks.

Excellent Marinakis banner from the HF. Summed up the slime ball crook quite nicely. We don’t need people like him in football. Hope Forest take legal action which will give it further airtime.

That's fair comment.
But it's perhaps reasonable to suggest that a specialist left sided attacker MAY have made more an impact in the role than a young inexperienced midfielder who's like a fish out of water when pressed into action in this advanced role.
It's more an observation of the paucity of the options in the squad .
Glasner seemed confident that this position will be addressed in the widow in his post match conference.

Yep Southgate was perfect for those privileged losers grafting their wages over at the FA.

Yep I agree - if there’s one thing we leant today Devenny is not a 10..!!

Esse looked decent though - there’s something there for sure..!!

COYP.!!

Palace apparently to be investigated with regard to the banner. Notts Forest have complained that we didn’t criticise the banner, no doubt it was the super grass Marinakis phoning in from Greece.

What a thoroughly odious club.

Kamada was awful in that position at the start of last season... the only reason his form picked up was because he reverted back to his usual position as one of the holding midfielders. Hes definitely an upgrade on Devenny but not really chuffed about it to be totally honest so hopefully we do sign someone for that position

Phew! Just the result we needed, I'm not quite sure I'd know what to do if we weren't somewhere between 14th and 12th place.
We were 12th after the first round (albeit on alphabetical tie-break). The season's target probably should be to finish there and win the Conference. Of, course that could already be dashed by Friday
Oh and a shake-up in ownership that might encourage Glasner to stay
